Ok since nobody seems interested in joing forces to help create my RPG I'll have to trade for code. I have about 1000 floor and wall tiles, and about 800 characters, sprites, and objects. I would be willing to trade some of those for code. Any takers?

Great idea! I think I will make a small collection of basic tiles people can use when they get started. The problem I have with coding is that I dont have enough free time to start from scratch. What Im looking for is a basic platform of code I work from and customize. I think some of the advanced BYOND programmer types should put together some basic platforms like that. Then all of us non-advanced BYOND programmer types could have something to work with. (hint, hint everyone!) It'd also get people like me who can't figure out how on earth an object oriented programming language works to stick around longer. (And help us make something better than a chatroom.) Of course if you just don't have time I guess that's a good excuse too. | |
Ok Im putting together a good collection of 200 tiles that will be available for anyone to download. I understand that people dont like to give up code because it gives them an edge over other games. However, I hope my sacrafice will inspire everyone to donate something back to Byond.

You probably don't need to trade anything for code... if you have an idea and aren't sure how to approach it, just put a question in the Code Problems forum and you'll usually some good suggestions.
Having said that, you might consider making a small subset of your icons (maybe 50 or 100) downloadable for general use. This would accomplish a couple things:
* It would give people a sample of what they can expect from the larger collection.
* It would be another great user-created resource for BYOND programmers.
Something to think about, anyway!
