Do people actually find this guy funny? I am all for overweight, unattractive, humorous male role models (let's see John Belushi, Chris Farley, Homer Simpson, and Peter Griffon spring to mind). But with credits like Nacho Libre, Orange County, and Shallow Hal, I'm just not getting it. He seems far more obnoxious and juvenile than clever and funny. Kind of like Peter Griffon as a real boy, I guess.

He is a funny man, plain and simple. He has dones some really funny and good acting. Tenacious D is a great example of how funny he is. They have started marketing him to the younger age these days, which really is a shame. Look at him in King Kong. Not only did he do a great job of acting, he was very funny. Jack Black just needs to go back to acting in movies that are not targeted to 10 year olds.

Jack Black is pretty obnoxious and kind of annoying, but I have enjoyed some of his acting and comedy.

But seriously, his obnoxious wit and cockiness is all part of the package that makes Jack Black so... god damned awesome. :) It's not so much his talent as it is his amazing energy and enthusiasm that drives his fan base. His larger than life personality makes this guy my idol. | |

I like Jack Black in limited doses, which is certainly much more than I was ever able to say for Chris Farley. Every one of Farley's characters was a screaming obnoxious guy, an obnoxious screaming guy, or a screaming screaming guy. Uh, no thanks. At least Jack Black is usually merely obnoxious, and often manages to parlay that into funny.
And I must agree, Black was awesome in King Kong. | |
Ok, I'll give you King Kong. And the examples I gave were intentionally bad role models; I don't think anyone aspires to be Homer Simpson!
I suppose it is all just preference. At least he's not Keanu Reeves. :-) | |
