They should change the name of this site to make your own DBZ game. Its sad how many kinds of the same thing are on here. Couldn't people think diffrently or team up to make on really good DBZ game instead of lots of little ones? Just a thought......

Its because Manifacea released a hostable demo of his game(not a good move in my oppinion) and now there are like 10 dbz games registered on the hub. I personbally think Dan or Tom should go and just take them all off, and the DBZ-Spar player server too. They just take up space. It was originally just Manifacae make a DBZ game, and then I saw how popular it was to dbz fans and went and started my own. I really only started making a dbz game to get players attracted to the games I make. I figured that if they liked DBZ-Spar, I would be able to make games after that and people who played DBZ-Spar would go and checkout the new game. Then a whole bunch of people just started make DBZ games. And actually, most of them were players of DBZ-Spar. |

I don't think "BYODBZD" is as catchy of a moniker as "BYOND", but I might be old-fashioned that way. If this program ever stables off (very few bug reports today!) we will be upgrading the hub once again. I think we're going to force the user to look at the category first. Maybe we can make "dbz" a category :) It is going to be moderated so we can cut down on the number of DBZ instances or at least group them more intelligently. While I have been impressed with these games, I don't want users to get confused and think that they are the only BYOND programs! |

So you don't miss some very non-DBZ games, check out Sheep II, Wabbit (when it's being hosted I think), DragonSnot, Sidewalk Santas, Dung-Man... |

Actually, for that matter, if you pick any given game that does not have "DBZ" in the title, you've got at least a good 1-in-3 chance of having something really neat. Super-early development demos probably constitute another 20-30% of the non-DBZ market. Playable-but-bare RPGs, maybe, eh, 10-15%. Then to fill out the mix there's some kinda silly, well done but kind of pointless games which might be of interest from a developer's point of view if you want a simple but completely functional game to look off of, but otherwise are mostly just good for novelty's sake.

On the subject of categorization, it's not of much importance now, but a really nifty feature for when the game list starts getting more and more pages would be to have a large variety of category tags designed to overlap and category listing more of a search type thing, so that you might have a game under the heading of "Mature fantasy RPG", which would be on the list if players looked for mature games, fantasy games, or RPGs, and presumably figure out some way to represent a game's category tags on the hub list (if the categories are fixed and don't get changed that much, icons would work pretty nicely.) |

(if the categories are fixed and don't get changed that much, icons would work pretty nicely.) mudconnect.com's Advanced Search is along these lines... a bunch of descriptive phrases you can select with a checkbox. Some aspects that might be worth offering searches on: Game type (Roguelike, RPG, puzzle, text MUD, arcade, etc.) Genre (sci-fi, fantasy, historical, etc.) Content warnings (gore, snogging, Communist doctrine, etc.) Deployment level (alpha, beta, production) Access model (free, free trial, one-time fee, periodic fee) Hosting style (server-based, run-it-yourself) |

What is snogging? I think it's a British term for "kissing." |
I agree with you, up to a point. Specifically, up to the point where you suggest it would be possible to make a "good" Dragon Ball Z game.
