Are you guys ever planning to charge for this after you release a finel(or retail if not final) version? If you are this might actualy be the first online game(sorta) that i will ever subscribe to (part of that is cuase i still cant get a job for a few more months). Its just been bugging me, i know each person can charge for their game if they want(though i never would, its just to much fun to make them)on the latest update to the news you said something about a "marketing push". i was just wondering if that meant after you finished it you were going to charge for it? Well sorry if im being a little nosy, but that was just something that was bugging me. Thanks if you have the itme to answer.
I think by "marketing push" they mean to advertise the system more publicly. The more people there are the more people will buy the blue book and other Dantom products.
I haven't heard anything about them charging anytime soon.

I dearly hope they wont charge for this, and I doubt they will. In any case, they can make money off of products like the blue book, and possibly other things farther down the line.

Dantom has stated in no uncertain terms that they will never charge for the system, and will only look for revenue in ways that partner with the people developing games.

Yep. Never means never. There are plenty of opportunities for profit that do not require charging for the software itself. We think charging for it would interfere with game developers' ability to reach the Internet masses, and that would pretty much stifle the whole project.

Thanks for answering my question. Theres a good reason for anyone to use byond, the creators actualy care about what theyre program is doing.
