I see that DragonSnot is listed as a party game, which is certainly appropriate, but not the whole story since party kind of implies "multi-player only" to me, like the word games are.
But I also think of it as an arcade game, an important distinction since that communicates the single-player side.
How about an arcade channel?
And I know you warned about being in multiple channels right now...if that's not technically (or procedurally) desirable, I think we'd want DragonSnot just listed in arcade.
If it's okay to do both, we'd list in arcade and party.
Thoughts?

There are no known problems with listing in multiple channels. The only reason I did not want to encourage that was the obvious reflex of some people which will be to want their game listed in every channel. You are right though. We do need a channel for games that work well in single player mode. Either that or we need to collect data on that and make it a searchable item. As I said before, I don't see channels as categories so much as audiences. There certainly is a "single-player" audience, and "Arcade" is probably a good name for it, though some puzzle games would also be single-player. Hmm. Maybe we need "Puzzles" too. Then a number of games would get listed in both "Brain Games" and "Puzzles" or both "Party" and "Arcade". I can't decide whether that is best or whether it should simply be a searchable toggle. --Dan |

Seems to me that "Brain games" and "Puzzles" are the same thing, so might not need two categories (unless there's a distinction I'm missing). But as for Party, Arcade, and Single-player...you know what, I can't think of a way around having all of them. They are all ways that I'd be interested in looking for games, and we may just be stuck with some games getting cross-posted among these. Certainly moderators will need to pounce on anyone who decides to cross-post to 20 irrelevant listings. |

If it's possible to prevent a game from being listed in more than 2 categories, that might be appropriate.

Hmm... I think most sites put heavy-action games under the "arcade" category. I think DS might be more of a "puzzle" item -- though it does require fast reflexes. A conundrum, indeed.
