I was thinking, would you (DanTom) consider adding an irc chat to the byond webpage? I would use it greatly and im sure others would too.
Just a thought
Ken
P.S -> http://www.ircx.com is a good place to get one

Like it did to your page, it would make it look bulky, and long loading.

It makes more sense for people to just develop BYOND chats and use those instead; they would appear in BYOND.Live! and would be easy enough to access. Lummox JR |
No, i dont mean one that stays with a site, i mean a page to log into, like http://www.gamedev.net did.

DS can operate as an irc client and in the beta version, it should even show irc connections live in the hub (though I can't remember right now if that requires registering a hub entry for the irc server). The ultimate would be some sort of combined BYOND/web/irc server, but rather than centralizing this on a server here, I first want to promote BYOND.Chat as a channel where people can host live chat worlds and see if we can get that idea to take off. That's a little different from irc, because when the host person wants to quit, the whole chat room goes down, but the up-side is extreme flexibility and diversity in the chat room interface. Maybe we could work out a good method for diverting people to a new host when the original host needs to leave. As an example, I'll update BYOND Home to do something like that and to make use of the BYOND.Chat channel and then anyone else who is interested can make an alternate chat tool or home world and we can start making it a little more obvious to users. We could even aim for providing a mechanism for web visitors to the chat worlds, since that would be convenient at times. --Dan |
