I think it would be a good idea to have the ability to download BYOND, demos, games, and libs in floppy-disk sized chunks. Some people may not have internet connections, but can access the internet from public locations. Giving them the ability to download files to floppies would widen BYOND's reach, in my opinion.

It'd also be nice to be able to view the *.DM files themselves in a project without having to download and open it up in Dream Seeker, for when I'm at work and I just need to view some code, I can't actually download a project because I don't have anything to open it up with. And the last thing my System Admin wants to see is me downloading BYOND, also since I work on Solaris there isn't much point in trying to download the Dream Seeker,Maker as well.

I'd say it'd be too much effort for too little of an audience. I mean, while a floppy disk copy (for backup or whatever purposes) would be nice, the 1.44MB disks are so low-tek now (back then, "Ha, no one could EVER make anything bigger than 1.44MB!") that they're practically meaningless. The vast majority of people on the internet today can simply download a 2 or 3 meg file and email it to themselves from work.
Now, having an HTTP download route for the demos, games, and libraries is another story, and I wholeheartedly support that. Splitting things into floppy-sized chunks, however, seems like too much work.
