I keep on getting pager spammed by some people. And I wanted to find out the keys, but.....the log doesn't get the pager messages.
Also, a place where we can see the people that we referred :)

Also, I had my pager off all night. Then I log into DS today...and I get the remaining pages of spam...... I had to wait 5 minutes for it to finish..... And I had banned him. he might have done it with another key.
oh, and then I turn on my pager. All the above happened with my pager off. |
Make it so that you can copy n paste key names into the banned keys. Its hard to ban GOKUDBZ2339299929299292 without copy n paste
|
Besides that, I'd still like an "Allow list" that lists only the people who I'm willing to let talk to me. Then I don't ever have to worry about people like this.

It would be very nice if there was an IP ban function for the pager.
It would also be nice to have an IP ban function in the BYOND hubs for people like "Migzor", so they cant get any part of the game to hack it. --Neo |

Yeah BYOND might be able to do it for you, just hope it doesnt show peoples IP address.

*shrugs* I dont understand why newbies(no offense) think just cause they have your IP they can hack you. Sure a hacker needs an IP to connect to a port on your comp but I mean the only ways a hacker can get in are:
Pre Installed Trojan. Windows Bug. Bug in the program you are using. Unsecure Proxy. and If you are shareing files. I guuuuuueeeeeesssss they could run a DOS attack on you (ooOoooOoO).Or they could spoof your IP and run a DOS attack on company. oh wait! they can run a whois on your IP and find out where your service provider is located AHHHHHHHHHH! But thats about it. Most people who will get your IP online are script kiddies anyway. |

Or, a system like Aol Instant Messenger uses: when a person wants to IM you, it first sends you a dialogue asking if you will accept the message and allowing you to ban or warn them right away, unless they are on your buddy list.

Most people who will get your IP online are script kiddies anyway. Precisely. Someone ICQed me with a helpful message. He obtained my IP address through an ICQ feature and warned me about it. I put it bluntly. "So?" |

I believe it's possible to spam particular ports such that a person's system becomes useless. Yep, that's a DoS attack. But it's only effective if you don't have the proper protection. |

Thats what my science fair project was:
The effect DoS attacks on major internet backbones. :) |
I'd like to propose that a log track recent pages by length. Also, that users have the option of 1) restricting page length, and 2) Not allowing line breaks in pages (or only allowing a few, like 3 or so). Those would curb the worst abuses.
I bring up the line break thing because it can scroll off the name of the person who paged you, but also because some schmuck of a DBZer (name withheld) paged me with an ad to buy code to various DBZ games; his last two items, instructions on "how to hack" and "how to hack BYOND games" were laughable, and I told him so. I don't allow HTML in pages, but line breaks go through regardless, and his ad made use of them. It was more apalling for its content than anything else; it's not like it was intended to scroll up my text window. But I was in the middle of a game when I had to deal with this crap; Sariat's frustration has got to be much worse.
