What are you trying to do? Why do you need to get passed your router?
|
Yeah, you need to enable IP forwarding on your router.
I'm writing an HOWTO on this exact topic, but it's taking me a little while due to the fact that information worth half a crap is difficult to find, but I'll explain for you... Basically, you need to enable IP Forwarding. Because of this, you will have to go into your Router's settings to enable this. Firstly, open your favorite net browser. Type in the following: If your router is a Linksys: http://192.168.1.1 Otherwise use: http://192.168.0.1 You should be asked to enter a user and password. You can find the default in your instruction ( admin/admin is a common one ) manual. After doing this, browse around the available displays until you find something called "Ip Forwarding." When you find this, go into this area or whatever it is and open up certain ports while taking notes. I reccomend you open the following ports: 28501 -- For your Pager 28502 -- For your hosted games 28503 -- In case you wanna host 2 games Basically, you'll then need to set your pager to open on port 28501. From now on, you'll click the host icon and then add the port 28502 instead of using 0. This will fix your problem and you'll be able to host games! |

It depends on how your IP Addresses are resolved.
If you wish to do this ala Router ( easier & more fluent ): You need to get a list of computers, this kinda requires you to know your computer name. Anyways, in your router info screen, you should have an option such as "Check Connections" "Connections" "Live Connections" "Interal Connections" "Computers" "DCHP Names" or something of the like. Look around for it. Anyways, after you find that, you'll have a list of computers connected to the router. Basically, from here what you want to do is note your computer down and the IP. Then close this box and go to the IP Forwarding stuff and do your thing :-) If you wish to do this ala computer ( more complicated ): press WINDOWSBUTTON+R or go Start -> Run if you're running any form of Windows 9x or ME type: Winipcfg In that box, your IP will be listed, you should jot that down. otherwise, if you're running any form of NT, 2000, or XP do: cmd then, you should get a command prompt box ( ala DOS ). Type ipconfig In both cases, you're looking for your ethernet adapter, which may be named a lot of things ( one reason why I like Linux more than Windows ). After this, you should be able to enable IP forwarding on all your computers. |
