Full screen would suck... Wheres your head today..just kidding, but why anyone would not like full screen support in BYOND is beyond me..I think it would be great and really allow us to give our games their own look by letting us use the HUD functions to create a whole look to our game with out the interfereing Dream Seeker windows. But what I would like more would be the ability to put windows in Dream Seeker where I want them, like move the text window to the bottom middle of the screen to give a look like Everquest or Dark Ages of Camelot, the ability to get rid of the pager so that I have more screen room, or the Ability to get rid of some of the Dream Seeker security features that limit us so much, such as the message that pops up when you try to switch a player to another server(which disallows Multi-server gameplay), I know thats possible, but then I have to ask every player to configure it, and if a player leaves the message and hits no to access and something happens to their character I would be the one at blame. Just saying, Full screen would be nice but there are better and more important things(Like being able to speed up frame rate, or lifting the object limit somewhat..I can go on and on..)..at least to me and some others. -Darkness |
I would like the full screen also and not having the byond things up they annoy me you could say... BYOND needs to be full screen, you would see lots of better games out there. What Darkness said "faster frame rate" that would be pretty cool too. Making things move faster instead of having it move slow all of the time, one unit at a time... that makes the game slow, dull, and just plane boring! Wouldn't it be better? I meen it would actualy be a game and not some slow moving thing with cheesy graphics. That is another thing when could there be something on BYOND when all of the graphics are 3-D and not 2-D from the top view, we should be able to make 3-D games(if that isnt too hard to code) that are not from the top view i am talking 1-ST person views worlds that are 3-D instead of BIT-MAP making we need the option of making 3-D polygon mobs/turfs/objs. That would be what i would want BYOND to be like. lol, i dont know if you can already do this but, binding keys to certain actions. For Example i am making Counter-Strike, the popular half-life game i am going to have strafe and try to bind the key A key to left strafe and right strafe to the D key etc... Well anyway, Full screen 3-D modeling (certain number on polygons) and not always top view sometimes 1-st person 3-rd person you know like an actual game..

BYOND will never be full 3D; it's just not designed for that. It would need a vast number of things set up differently, plus bandwidth needs would go way up, and there'd be considerable need for collision algorithms. Portability, or any hope to ever achieve it, would go out the window. This just isn't a possibility. BYOND may, I hope, in the future (hopefully even the near future) be better equipped to handle some pseudo-3D like isometric. But if your idea of a good game absolutely requires cutting edge 3D graphics, then you came to the wrong place. I've seen a lot of imaginative, clever, brilliant games done with 2D graphics, before BYOND and since. You're also making a really huge mistake in thinking of 2D graphics as "top view"--that shows you're only thinking in terms of RPGs, and not the zillion other kinds of games BYOND can handle. In many games "top view" isn't the case at all. It's here where imagination really comes in. Lummox JR |

Err0r wrote: Yes, you are probably right there would have to be a big increase in bandwith... Ok, there will probably never be any 3-D, now that i think about it... Ok, when i said "top view" i dint realy meen top view i just ment 2-D when i said "top view" :-D Err0r- |

There will be a picture of tom on startup holding a sign that says Free Lemonaid? Ack! You let the cat out of the bag! I see it's already all over the BYOND rumor sites, so I suppose there's no harm in posting it here. However, I strongly encourage Dantom to drop this project and focus on something else instead - that'll teach them to post insider information early and steal Tom's thunder! Mind you, this is just a low quality shot of what could have been (the "Free Lemonade" is hard to make out, but it's there), if only those BYOND rumor mongers hadn't ruined it for you. ![]() |
If thats tom, i got to say Right on man! i want some lemonade!!! yyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!

That is Tom, and the reason the image looks so bad is because Mike (Mapster) took it, yes that was a joke. So don't use your bike powers on me!

Really? I certainly hope so :) That would have eliminated quite a few frustrations when I started making the basics for an RTS game where quick, simple commands can really make a difference.
Another pleasant surprise would be an insert proc for lists. |
Don't tease us! ::cries::
