I am trying to set up a host site so that others can play my BYOND games without me. Needless to say, I have not been successful. I've uploaded the dmb and rsc files to my game, Storm, onto my web site:
ttp://www.angelfire.com/nj4/wbc/storm/storm.dmb
ttp://www.angelfire.com/nj4/wbc/storm/storm.rsc
(I took off the "H" in "HTTP" so that they wouldn't be links)
How would I go about creating a link to this site so that others may play? I haven't even been able to log onto the dmb file. I know that I'm probably doing everything all wrong for this, but if anyone could help, please do so. Thanks.

Why not just put your game in the hub?

I could (and I have), but then someone would have to host. And usually, it's me. If I have the host site up, then people can play the game without me.

You can't just host it on any old site. It has to be hosted through byond.... So, you would have to install byond on the server and then run dreamseeker on the server and host the game that way. Although, that's probally not gonna work on anglefire and it is also not very cheap. If you look under space.... I think byond has some links too some sites that will host games for you. But, like I said it isn't exactly cheap. hope that helped ya a little bit.

Hmmm I could make a host place if people donate dimes to me so I can buy a new computer to host it on. Probley have Linux on it and then just set up dantoms Hosting software. I can do that now on this computer but Its way to laggy for games that have accounts on the server. Also I was thinking on host Webspace for byond made wbbpages.
Ahh well if you feel like donating be my guest but all donations will goto a new comp to host a server on. Most sales from the EGS games I will be making will also be going toward the new comp too. |

Your best bet is one of two choices: set up a small Linux box and use the BYOND hosting engine (see download link to that effect) that comes with the Linux version of BYOND; or set up a seperate Windows box and use it to host the game through DreamSeeker for you... |
