Acheron's Awakening isn't just for guys...

A female warrior sporting Balzackian armor travels the country side.
She would make a hot Balzackian
You have 18 days left to give us access to AA. :D
Women don't play on byond.*

* I know someone will take this seriously, cause their dumb. Hey, I even got my ex gf on here, they are there, lurking.
I imagine there wil be about 5 females on the game. 4 of which will be guys trying to make other horny guys give them free stuff.
You and Zeen broke up?
Your game is starting to look really sweet nice work can't wait to take it for a spin i mean play..yeah...play....
Everyone is getting caught up in all the screenshots, but nobody has closely looked at the mobs. They suck.

Seriously...You need to get a new Icon Artist or something, because those mobs are way too low quality for this game.
The problem I have with this female icon is that, frankly, she looks like a fat prostitute with abnormally small facial features.

I think they look fine, besides we want them to look more like:

and http://members.byond.com/Jaredoggy/files/Proelium.png

Far more than we'd want them to look like:

or http://members.byond.com/Jaredoggy/files/Seika.png

If mobs were any more detailed they'd be too over the top and not match the turf. It's supposed to not look amazing, just easy to look at and serviceable.....but even so I've not seen any icons on BYOND that blow me away so much that I'd say Acheron's pales in comparison.
The character sprites had to conform to several standards:

--Leaving room outside the icon (within the 32x32 square) for Helmets, Weapons, Shields, Capes etc.
--Having a wide enough face/body to allow distinguishable differences between different types of armor and hair types
--Making the base icon simple enough to create a variety of different clothing types/styles easily

I don't think that the character sprites are anything special... but I don't know of any BYOND game that has character sprites that I like any better. Like Jaredoggy pointed out, I think that the RPG maker sprites are ugly.
People will eventually warm-up to them, they always do. At first lots of people just don't like to see change :P
I just want to say, quality or not, your icons in your games always flow together quite well. A big problem in other games is that they grab icons from multiple sources and they never fit together right. No, your icons aren't spectacular, but they work quite well with the rest of the graphics, and that's commendable.

Sidenote: I don't know if it's feasible for your system, or that you'd even want to bother, but I found that building characters out of overlays rather than putting overlays on top of their icons can work quite well, especially since you can use pixel offsets to reach outside of that 32x32 prison
Thanks DerDragon, and thank you for the suggestion. I've actually built the characters out of overlays... but I've just tried to contain the characters and their equipped items within the 32x32 square in order to keep things looking tidy. I tried expanding the character overlays beyond the 32x32 square and it looked a little odd.

What's wrong with our sprites?

I think the sprites for Acheron's Awakening look fine. Even though all the icons are low quality, they're nice and realistic. You don't need amazing graphics to make a good game.
Uh, not to sound childish, but Balzackian? Am I the only one who realizes what that sounds similiar to?
I guess I should have shown more comparisons than two, I was in a hurry though and those were the only other two RPG's in the top ten.

Most of the time I get an RPG maker meets DBZ Zeta feel from most BYOND RPG's when it comes to sprites. That obviously works for hundreds of people too, and actually is probably hard to get AWAY from with BYOND's limitations. But I don't find it to be a bad thing to break the mold a bit; something that I think Acheron's does. That's all I meant by posting those screenshots.

And the Balzackians are my guild from the DWO days. And the name is based off of Balzack from Dragon Warrior 4, which is also a legitimate name people use in certain parts of the world. http://balzack.silkgames.com/about.html

Actually I'll be recruiting when Acheron's Awakening hits, so keep your eyes open.
Yeah Pop, I was also wondering why the female warrior needed Balzackian armor. :P
I think the sprites are fine, though I'd have to agree that they don't look quite as nice as the rest of the game. Allowing them to expand (a bit) outside of the 32x32 icon area would probably help quite a bit, but it would also likely mean a lengthy development delay, which would probably get you hung. :) I'd stick with what you've got for now.
