I've tried to download and play BYOND. The downloading went fine. However, trying to play it, it shut itself off after about ten seconds. No warning, no reason. AND, after it shuts itself off, it deleted Dreamseeker! I'm not exactly a programmer, but I can tell something is wrong there. If it helps, I'm running Windows XP, and I have the trace file here.

Could someone, ANYONE, help?
I'd have to take a wild guess that, by the fact that the files seem to be named "DUNG" instead of "BYOND," your version was just a bit out of date. Try redownloading.
In response to Garthor
Bzzzt! Sorry, Garthor, thanks for playing. =)

The trace files always have "dung" in them. I'm guessing that Dantom didn't bother to update all the library references, etc. in their code to reflect the new (well, not so new any more) name.

Reinstalling might help. If not, try Garthor's suggestion and redownload, just in case your download was corrupt. If it still doesn't work, you've probably fallen victim to XP's occasional problems with BYOND. Installing XP's service pack(s) might help, I don't know.

Bleh, once again I am caught off-guard by the laziness of others!
In response to Garthor
A virtue, laziness can be. Underestimate it, you should not. But exercise caution with it, you must. </yoda>

Hmm...I've tried uninstalling it, reinstalling it, and all that...seems I'm just out of luck. Which is bad.
In response to Sorune
Upgrade to Linux. ;-) You won't have the graphical client, but hey, it's better than nothing! =)

Did you try the service packs thing? If you did, there goes my BYOND-will-work-with-XP-service-packs hypothesis. =P
