So you believe in Spiritism?
|
Right, so you are asserting that there is a phenomena, where-by an individual can, under some unknown circumstances, have memories from a previous life?

Yes. There is suggested a reason why a person may remember their past lives. Vast majority of the people who remember their past lives died a sudden, traumatic, violent and/or abrupt death. Many of these cases are of violent deaths. Rarely do I hear someone died from old age or disease.

Right. So the evidence you have also adds weigh to say, memory imprinting, spiritual possession, channeling etc as explanations for those cases. What makes the reincarnation theory stronger than those, for explaining those cases?
(I mean there's also the issue that there's only 100 strong cases anyway, as you put it, and that's too small a sample size for asserting much of anything scientifically, so at best, it's a theory, and one at which I would be quite rational to not believe in yet) |

Say something controversial, grab your microwave popcorn, and just watch and laugh as everyone babbles on about some useless topic people can never agree on. He started the debate/discussion and several of us gave our reasons to why we're Atheists. He had no response because he couldn't uphold his side of the debate, obviously. You seem to be as confused as him, though. |
I don't know how many of those are truly strong cases. 100 cases is good. If we get that number up to 5000 then we can conclude this is reincarnation. So far it has only been strongly SUGGESTED as reincarnation, not proven.

I'd like to know what made you believe in god, psychic abilities, reincarnation and the afterlife.
Do you just read something that seems logical because you can't quite understand it so you run with it or do you think for yourself? |
How did you derive 5000 as being the threshold? I suspect the wider scientific community's threshold is much higher than that, for the theory stated, and relies on controlled experiment. Which it seems this theory doesn't have, yet.

I do both but I try to think for myself more.
Why I believe in these 4 things you mentioned: Once I was doing brainwave entrainment and I got to a special sound made by a respectable person in the community I was in and he said he was inspired by something higher like a god. You see I was sick with mental illness and in depression and I even forgot about it. When I listened to those sounds I became well for 24 hours! I felt so good and so normal. I was awakened. Its as if God has inspired this brainwave entrainment just for me. I was a slave and didn't even know it. Then I really searched the truth and asked God many times to prove to me he exists. I now have reasons to believe he does exist. I had those health problems and prayed very often. Then miracles started happening to me. First of all my friend has a prophetic vision of me being healed by a brown-skinned woman. But let me be completely honest with you: he did not have a vision. He makes a lot of things up and I think later he said he made it up. But this is not all. I go to a psychic and pay her about $7. Very cheap for what she gave me. She gave me the name and address of an alternative healer who uses spiritual and eastern medicines to heal. She was also very respected in her field. So I show her picture to my friend and he says she looks EXACTLY how he imagined her. He got scared. This miracles don't stop here. There's two more. The second miracle is of her psychic powers. So while I occasionally go to her office for health, I had an inner transformation happen to me while contemplating at home. Sort of like the self-realization the New Agers, Hindus and Buddhists talk about. Ever since then I transformed. Its like I became enlightened. Externally I was the same but internally I had an explosion. So I go to the psychic healer lady and don't act any different or say anything and she was like "WOW, what happened to you?!". She was very very surprised ever since she saw me that day. She saw my transformation. It was a miracle. The final miracle is that when she sent me and my mother energy, we felt it strongly. Sometimes energy works for me other times it doesn't. But this one I have felt strongly and I didn't think anything would happen then. These miracles make me a firm believer in spirituality. |

All I ask for is evidence to this illogical and irrational idea that I-as an Atheist- can't and won't even consider. @Stephen- Okay, that's a possibility but when someone starts a debate, they usually stick around to discuss it further. |
