I'm not superstitious at all, I think it's utter rubbish, but this was all too perfect. It has me feeling like I should bite my tounge the next time I am about to say something that might hex someone.

Last friday, there was a motorcycle show that my friend in AZ and his friends there went to. He was telling me a few days before, and telling me that they were going to ride in the show and go riding after and hang out. Well, the day he was telling me all of this was on 6/6/06, so I joked around with him and was like,

"You shouldn't have been talking about all of this today, it's 666! Now you're going to get in some big accident."

Well, you can guess what happens next. Friday comes, and as they are all riding home from the arena. As they were rounding this corner, one of his friends passed out on the cycle and started going ~80mph. He veered off onto the other side of the road and a car came out from behind the corner and hit him head-on. The car was going about 45, he was going about 80. Needless to say, that guy on the cycle died. The rest of them were hit by shrapenal from the accident, and my friend's brother inlaw was airlifted to the hospital, and the others were badly injured. My friend suffered a broken leg in 3 places.

Save the "You said it because there is a high chance of fatal accidents with motorcycles and people always act stupid on motorcycles, it was a coincidence." stuff. I know, but he wasn't acting stupid -- he passed out. It was no longer in his control.

I still really don't believe in superstition, but this scared me a little bit.

And now for some comic relief:

Where do I sign up?
That is a lil' too perfect.
Good job, Kunark... Karma is going to PWN you...lol

(Actually, my vote goes for "coincidence")
Ouch. Any idea why the guy passed out?
Or maybe your friend plotted this all to happen to make you think it really happened from a jinx. Maybe his friend wanted a way to suicide and "passed out" with the throttle on, balancing himself all the way to the road and into a car. Coincidence? I think not! Jinx? Unlikely! It's a conspiracy I say!

The "Make Kunark believe in jinxes" conspiracy to be exact.
I think Crispy has the right question, why did he pass out? Normally, people don't just passout, especially on something like a motorcycle.

Surely there where other factors involved. Perhaps they had stayed up that night while having fun, or maybe they where drinking the night before and didn't go to bed untill late(pm)/early(am).

One of my friends recently crashed his bike. He was crusing along, when a dog poped out at him. He ran over the dog, laying down his bike. It broke his arm and scuffed up his helmet (If he didn't have a full helmet on, he would probably be dead or need a lot of work done on his face). The bad thing is, the owner of the dog claims it was a stray, so he can't sue the owner. On the plus side, the dog got what was coming to him(The bike killed the dog).
Normally, people don't just passout, especially on something like a motorcycle.

People pass out all the time! Motorcycles require lots of concentration and can get very hot... and roads can get very boring, too. Motorway tireness and all that.

Also, I wouldn't sue someone if I ran over their dog and injured myself in the process. =(
Elation, the dog ran out in front of him. If somebody left a crate out in the road and you hit it, would you sue the crates owner? A dog is technically property, so anything the dog does, the owner is responsible for.

In this state, it is illegal to have a dog outside without a tether of some kind. So that means that the owner was letting the dog run wild, which is just asking for all kinds of trouble. That dog could have mauled a little kid, knocked up a few bitches (Literally), or any number of other things.

Oh yeah, and the passing out thing:
If he was prone to passing out on trips, then he should have known better than to ride a motorcycle.

Some people do get into a zone and pass out, but normally in large vehicles where the ground noise and road roughness are blocked out. Only leaving a steady and quiet white noise. Motorcycles are rough riding, and as you stated, take a lot of concentration. If he where concentrating on the road, he would not be likely to pass out.

I just can't see this happening under normal conditions. He could have even had something wrong with his body, perhaps with the added stress of riding a bike, he passed out. I don't know the situation so I couldn't guess too well, but I am almost certain he was not well rested or was not in good health.
Scooberts post reminded me of something I heard from a reletive that works with the local police:

They got a call from the police(someones family) saying their brother had died in a motorcycle crash. The parents asked "How do you know he's dead?" The officer replied "Well, his bodies by a tree, and his head is on the other side of the road."

Kind of a sad "drunk driving" humor thingy there.
Twas the spirit of 666.

EDIT: those guys r hawt.
--Kinda related kinda not :\--

Yeah, the Steelers QB got into a 'cycle accident today :o
I don't think monotonous freeway hypnosis played a factor in it, but he isn't exactly here to ask so it'd be hard to tell.

The police say it was from dehydration -- he was also wearing a leather jacket, and it is very hot in Arizona so that's quite believable.

Hm. It would be my fault if I hit the crate; then again, it should not be there. I wouldn't sue if I just broke an arm though. Suing is meant to be a kind of compensation if you cannot work or earn money for a long time due to your injuries. If you broke an arm you shouldn't sue because it's not all that crippling. If you broke both legs, your spine and neck then you should probably sue. =P

It is fruitless for us to try and guess why he passed out since there are thousands of factors to take into account- many, many reasons why he may have fell unconscious. Since Kunark's in the know we should probably go with his explanation. =P
