A few BYONDers (not to mention any names), have been threatening to get others IP banned from BYOND. I'm just wondering, if your allowd to give this information away, is it possible for a moderator to actually ban an IP adress? Just want a heads-up on what kind of power you moderators have, thanks.

Likely as not we'd just end up banning anyone who repeatedly made those threats to coerce people. It seems to be a common tactic among the lower life forms (read: trolls) to try to pretend they're in tight with Dantom or the staff. By reputation alone it should be obvious that they're full of crap. Can anyone seriously imagine Dantom would have anything to do with some cretin who goes around harassing people? There are also those who claim they'll spread false stories to get us to ban someone. News flash: Moderators don't ban based on anything that can't be confirmed, so rumors would hold no weight. Besides, most trolls who make those threats would really prefer to stay under the radar, lest any moderators figure out that they're just using the threat of mod action as a stick to manipulate people. Like I said, if we found out someone was pulling that, they'd be the one in hot water. Lummox JR |
