I believe keys that have not been used within the past year should be deleted so that others may use them. Maybe some sort of built in feature that does this.

it would be too easy to let a key expire (say mine for example) and someone else of lesser character use it to threaten or abuse other community members. no thanks...

This would be a terrible idea, because say a good game makers key expired all his games that may still be played and hosted would go with it and so would some of the Demo's and libraries that people may use

How about, some kind of idle area that doesn't take up space, and if the person wants their key back they jsut fill out some things.
Or something. |

I find that complicating, and stupid. I find that rude. Besides, why have stuff that nobody even *knows* about anymore take up space on Dantom's servers? If a key hasn't been used in a certain amount of time(more than a year at least), then any of its games/demos/etc that haven't been accepted to the hub get deleted/archived until such time as the key's owner logs into the key again. |

It's also not smooth to "fill out stuff" if a key hasn't been used in a year. They registered the key, and that should be enough. --Dan |

They should just leave everything, and make life much easier. Easy, yes; cost effective, no. Buy new hard drives when they fill and pay the bandwidth costs for them and I'm sure they'll see it your way. ;p |

I think just makeing it expire in 10 years after not used, is a beter way. 1 year is to short. Ten years is good

The time can fluctuate maybe 5 years or so.

How about we just have a way to delete a key?

10 years? Has byond even been here for 10 years? ._.
I'd say an idle program, its what most do. Some go even lower then a year, example: "If within 90 days you do not use novaworld your account is subject for deletion." Peraps, a year and a half of continuous non-use, then it will be "Subject" to deletion, and deleted when they get to the name? |

I don't really like the idea of key deletion, but maybe what we could do is this. When a key has been idle for a certain amount of time, auto-send an email asking whether or not it's ok to delete their key. Heck, you could get a crew and manually send those, but that's just an idea.

Although that's good there's one part missing that is, making it so that if they don't respond it gets deleted to, because most people would probably have a different e-mail account by then >.> |
No they shouldn't. What if they wanted to take a nice break from BYOND, like I did? And the length of my break was a year.
Terrible Idea.
