Now that everyone has to host their own files, why not make the update number be based on something else rather than the one that you have to manualy change in your games profile. It becomes a hassle. How about a small text file packaged with the zip file that the byond site can scan, or DS can scan to see if it is the correct version. Or maybie just a world var call version. Just some ideas.

Well, it is just a small pain, if you are like me and have lots and lots of small updates all the time, not just a few big ones. Those ideas where simple ideas. I'm sure there would be easyer ways to do it, perhaps something in DM that would allow you to update your hub entrys info from it(just have the key info saved from DS). Just have some nice and easy GUI, because most of the time I dont have Mozilla/IE up while I am programming. I often forget to mark the updates.

It's not that big a hassle, and it's nothing compared to the other solutions. The BYOND server isn't just gonna go out and "scan" sites for every single hub entry to check for an update. That'd be ridiculous.
