Sorry for all the topics but i'm starting a new project and need some answers.
Is there a way to eliminate the box on the right through which text appears like: world << "Hello" would appear in a white box on the right usually, is it possible to resize this box permentantly and place it somewhere else(like at the bottom)?

Not currently. BYOND 4.0 will give you control over the position and size of interface elements.

Wow cool, do you know when it may come out?

When Dan and Tom release it!
No one really knows, it was supposed to be out a while ago. |

"When it's done".
I think it was originally scheduled to come out sometime in 2002. So, yeah, don't hold your breath. =P |

Only two things i want right now are keyboard controls and rearraging world box, nothing else.

Both of which are much more complicated than they sound, believe me. Customising interfaces is always complicated, and keyboard control is made complicated by BYOND's unusual client/server model.

Well why dont they ditch the unusual client/server thing and go with the usual things used in emulators?

BYOND isn't an emulator. And emulators usually don't have client-server models.

Ofcourse it isnt an emulator. And thats what i'm saying, why use client/server models?

Because N stands for Net. Methinks you should stop talking about things you know nothing about.

Me thinks i have the right to suggest things, i'm not saying use it, i'm just trying to help.

Use WHAT? You haven't even MADE a suggestion yet!

And thats what i'm saying, why use client/server models? If you're suggesting a peer-peer model that's just ridiculous since the game needs to be run on every computer playing and required N! network connections where N is the number of players in the game which makes it infeasable to have more than 4 players in a game. |

I'm ONLY suggesting to get rid of client/server, i don't know what you could replace it with.

and that is the whole problem with your suggestion: you make one without backing it up or providing a valid replacement.
look, no-one is trying to make you look stupid (well, ok, maybe Garthor since that's his style, but he's right more often than not, just not in his beside manner), but to suggest getting rid of the client/server part of BYOND would essentially put a stop to one the most central purposes of BYOND - that being multiplayer-gaming. you might as well stop using BYOND at that point, unless you like making single-player games. |

Once again, I strongly implore you never to speak of things you don't understand.
And ESPECIALLY things you THINK you understand, but really DON'T. |

But if he thinks he understands them, then how would he know not to to talk about them?
