BYOND Version: 341.877

Operating System: XP Home

Web Browser: IE

Detailed Problem Description: Well I have realized for awhile, but my DMP icon has changed...it is a little book with a stopwatch in it. I'm pretty sure it wasn't always this. Is this just me??

Does the problem occur:
Every time? Or how often?
Yeah I thought it was one DME, but it was all of them...even the ones before I realized it changed.
This isn't a bug. You obviously installed another program that usurped the .dmp extension for itself.

Oh >.> It might be the BYOND + Thing from a while back. Thanks though.

Nah. BYOND Plus was just a DLL injector that hooked into Dream Seeker and did extra stuff. It didn't associate itself with any files.

Here are some other things that DMP is used for: http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=DMP

I think it might of been the Visual C++ Compiler >.>

That I can believe. Quite possibly it's trying to do some funky stuff.

Try double-clicking on a DMP file and see what program opens. =)

Somehow....It seemed to of changed back to the little blue earth thing >.>
In response to N1ghtW1ng
Blue earth thing? Sure you don't mean DMB icons? My DMP icon is yellow.

It's possible that Windows messed up your icons, that can happen sometimes. There are tools that can fix that (TweakUI, for example, which is a free download from Microsoft).

Okay, repeat after me, "Should have" "Should have" "Could have" not "could of" never "[X] of"! I don't mean to jump on your grammar, but this is awful, I've seen you do it since you started posting, people shorten and simplify this when they talk, but it is still written "have"... Jeez.

And VC++ doesn't use a .dmp extension

Meh I looked at the DMB instead of the DMP that time. Here is a picture of what my DMP looks like. It is the City file, it has like sparkling stuff on it:

Then when clicked I get:

Yeah...that's the way I talk so it sort of(This is ok right?) sticks with me.

Anyway I think you might be wrong if you look at the post under crispy's I showed a picture

Hrm... Visual C++ 6 does not have crash dump files... Assumed you were using the same. Well, you could override it by default by associating it with Dream Maker.
In response to Ter13
Don't Assume you make an ass out of you and me =P *Du du dush!*

How would I go about associating it to the DreamMaker??
In response to N1ghtW1ng
What version of windows, and what admin access do you have?
In response to Ter13
XP and well..I guess Full.
In response to N1ghtW1ng
Well, I can't remember the official way, but the easy way is going to be right-clicking on the file and clicking "Open with..." then selecting Dream Maker from the list, and make sure the checkbox at the bottom is clicked.
In response to Ter13
Well I right clicked it, and went to properties. Then I changed what you open it with. The icon is still the same weird star thing.
In response to N1ghtW1ng
The icon probably won't change using that method, no. To do that you have to open up Windows Explorer and go to: Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types. Find DMP in the list, select it, and press Advanced. Then press Change Icon. In the window that comes up, press Browse, and select dreammaker.exe. A bunch of icons should show up in the change icon dialog. Select the map icon (for me it's at the bottom of the left column), click OK, click OK again, and finally click Close.

You can also change the program that's associated with the file from the File Types tab; before you close it you may wish to make sure that it says "Details for 'DMP' extension... Opens with: dreammaker".
