Linux in graphical mode

Why is Linux only in text mode? is it possible to put it in graphical mode without emulators?

Because the graphics library we use is Windows-specfic. Currently there's no way to run a graphical version of BYOND under anything but Windows. This may change in the future.

It has to wait for the switch to OpenGL. Don't worry, it's being worked on. I recall LummoxJR messing with it in the past.

you can always run BYOND under VMware for Linux - works pretty good for me.

and text-mode DS rocks for many things like MUDs and Chatters. ok, some features need tweaking, but it works pretty good.
