I'd like to have an additional option in the pager settings on the member page.

[] Allow non-Members in your pager's friend list to send you unsolicited pager messages.
I second this idea, I've been wanting it for awhile.

It's a good idea (as a non-member it's a great idea) but doesn't it sort of defeat the purpose of allowing members the privelidge of the pager?

The worse thing byond ever did members they said the pager takes up to much bandwitdh. Fair enought it might but wouldn't member blogs (pages whatever) pretty much have the same affect

Well as it is you can already set your pager to recieve pages from non-members. What he wants is a way to make it so that it's more specific.
I agree with him. I like non-members being able to contact me, but one of the biggest benifits of non-members not being able to start conversations is you don't get any sort of random spam.

The difference is the people who use bandwidth for their member blogs are actually paying for that bandwidth.
Before Members came along Tom had to cover the costs of the pager out of his own pocket which was hardly fair.
I like this one too.

Maybe around the time he decided not to be such a cheat person, and dish out a few dollars to keep BYOND alive?

Well to byond its $15 but for me its really $48

To BYOND it's not $15 either. It's $15 less a year that they have to spend to keep BYOND alive. Tom doesn't take your $15 and spend it on booze and candy.

If BYOND didn't start generating some income to cover the cost of operation they might as well have just shut it down. It's simple economics.

I'm not trying to pressure you into becoming a member, I just want to get the point across that noone is getting rich off this setup.

I think this is a stupid idea.
The whole POINT of a membership is to where you can use the pager!

Exactly. You can't really use the pager if your friends can't contact you. What point would the pager be if you had to start all your conversations because noone you knew had a membership?

Still, that's what AIM's for.
