I have noticed that although BYOND doesn't play MP3s, if you change the file extension to .mid/.wav/ect, BYOND will play it. I think BYOND needs a better way of telling weather a file is an MP3 or not. Anyone agree?

Nah, just abuse it and shut up. ;P

Rofl. If you read my post you'd realise that I already have. How else would I know about the problem?

We talked about that problem when we first introduced FMOD to BYOND and were trying to decide what to do about the MP3 licensing. At the time, blocking the extension was all we could do without paying more for the FMOD source or getting a specialized build of it.
The new FMOD Ex however does have a feature for telling the file type. Thanks for reminding me about this forgotten issue. I can fix it properly with a single line of code now. :) |
Whenever I try to get a converter I can only convert a certain amount of time because it's the trial version and I really don't want to buy it. Wow that was a run-on sentance.

Look up Audacity. It's a free audio editor that can import mp3 files, and convert them into ogg files.
