A little "Do not display on main page." box would be nice, if you don't want your post advertised on the main Members page.

Not to mention the part where I don't really want my first "This message is only here so that I can see what the heck my CSS sheet is doing" message appearing on the members page.

Pardon me for semi-hijacking, but I think it's related enough.
When you're making a post, could we get a message when we preview it if it contains content that will auto-filter it from the main page? You wouldn't have to point out every last offending word. Just something like "This will not appear publicly as-is". A couple of times in the past I've posted something, found out that it was censored, and begin to play a game of spastic edits to figure out where I messed up. |
What the hell? I suggested the exact same thing and I got shoo'd, saying to use a <code>
[curse word]</p></code>. |

Indeed that would be nice, for people who would like to self-censor posts they know shouldn't appear there.
