This is why you implement some way for you to shut it down from an external world, and force it communicate with said world when it starts up.

Simle soulution remove pager bans. I really see no point to them.

For hosts to be able to ban trolls perhaps? The new 4.0 pager bans are sticky too, so you can't just change your key and get back into the game.

TRUE. But, the owner needs to also be able to shut down the server from the hub IF the host is indeed abusive enough to pagerban them and try to take over the game.

If the host is abusive enough to do this in the first place, you haven't picked the right one.

Let me repeat this to you in bold, red text: The host cannot be stopped, even if BYOND Staff hard-codes a feature in, because the host inherently has more control.

The host could, for instance, disconnect from the BYOND Hub, bypassing anything feasible hard-coded into the software.

They can just ban people in game.

Not all games have that functionality. And not all that functionality works particularly well.

Right. Even a decent ban system in game can still be bypassed, but doesnt the sticky bans work in basically the same way as a BYOND ban? All keys connected to that key become banned? (be it they logged in with the same IP at one point in time, same email, similar key name, etc)?

Even sticky bans can be bypassed if the person trying to do so is dedicated enough. Hardware bans are better, but can still be gotten around. The best, and only sure-fire way to get rid of them, is to physically hunt down the person doing it and putting them out of your misery.
