Imagine! for making an overlay if you could easily set an existing icon to be a semi transparent background. That way you could draw the overlay with ease! it would be fantastic!

I think he means some sort of option in the Icon Editor to display a slightly transparent version of another state below the icon you're currently working on, so you could trace over it. The background would be unaffected, basically allowing you to draw clothes over bases and other such overlays.

This could be easily done in any image editor that supports layers. Just paste the base on the bottom layer, give it 50% opacity, and lock it. Then just draw on the layer above.

yup, thats true, but this is more for slightly less intelligent icon maker grunts. Still would be a wonderful feature to include in BYOND considering 90% of the icons people maker are overlays!
