Those new buttons are good and all, but it would be nice if you could replace them with your own buttons?
I mean like you can customize your title logo ect it would be then good if you could replace the bright yellow (and large) buttons with some you made to match your game.
Just a thought.

Why not an option for removing the button image and/or linking it to a new one?
I agree that it is ugly (It's not Web 1.0 anymore :P) but with the alternatives listed above (from other people comment), it can help reduce the amount of bandwidth it may take up! Sure it may seem like a small amount of bandwidth is taken but small, little problems can end up being huge, complex/difficult problems to resolve. |
I'm less worried about the buttons and more worried about the "play by yourself" nonsense on the side. Many BYOND games only work with multiple players. False advertising only makes the games look bad.

I agree with that. They look like they were knocked off at about 1 AM while drinking too much Mr. Pibb. =)
The layout of the links on the Hub pages is under active development, though, so I think we'll wind up getting something that looks good in the long run. Hopefully that includes a more modern-looking image. ;-) |

The first-draft ugly yellow ones or the new awesome ones that use the BYOND sunset gradient? Also, who drinks Mr. Pibb? Where do you even find that in a civilized country? Good gads man. It seems every time I hear someone say "Web 2.0" they mean "Something that looks like Apple made it". If you're referring more to the font than the image, bear in mind the font was one chosen to look something close to what the old BYOND logos were done in. If you know of a specific font that'd look better, by all means let me know. Lummox JR |

I dunno who drinks it, but we don't even get it here in Canada. ;-) Anyway, I'm talking about the current images which can be seen at hub://LummoxJR.Incursion. The recessed text is blurry, the dithering on the images is grainy, the thickness of the buttons is a little off-putting, and the colour is just a smidgeon too garish even bearing in mind the orange-blue BYOND scheme. I am getting more used to them as I look at them, though. Most link images these days aren't done in 3D renderers, but rather are done by dedicated artists working in Photoshop. Xooxer's image on this thread is pretty well done. |
While that button is infinitely better then the current one, I still think the color selection is horrendous.
Why does it even need orange? Besides the pretend navbar to the left with fluff content, Dream Seeker is the only thing left using orange. It's probably going to be phased out anyway because of this. Get rid of the orange! Leave it in BYOND Anime! |
I personally think they are quite ugly. If I really wanted to, I could easily design my own button which could do the same thing and perhaps look better. I believe having an option that allows us to remove these buttons would be the best suggestion.
