There have been numerous times when stuff like this happens.

Could we eventually have a system like some message boards have where at least a small amount of every post shows by default, so that you can at least get an idea of what is going on elsewhere in a thread even if you don't read the whole thing?

Except that that's not the same thing. I do that sometimes when I want to read through a long thread faster, but at the very least having post links show a short intro to the post they are linking to would be even better, and it would cut back on stuff like I linked to.

You wouldn't even need to click on it to see what the general idea is much of the time! It would greatly increase forum browsing efficiency, it would increase effectiveness for situations like the one I mention in my OP, and it would be a very useful upgrade. That little bit goes a very long way.

How would that at all be more useful what it displays now? What they need to do is create a more functional reply/quote system. Because the one they have now isn't very user friendly, and it more often leads to gigantic spam posts than to anything helpful.

His suggestion is entirely unrelated to any sort of quote system, so your suggestion there is out-of-place. His suggestion would be more useful in getting the idea of other posts if it were more words than that.
