Well, I seemed to notice while editing a icon, I need layers or I could do it in a GFX program...but, BYOND needs layers too just to make icons Easier to make other than just messing up...
The following screen-shot could be a future version of the Layers...

And when you press the layer button, a new layer would appear, and a few new options would appear aswell...Like the following Image
And also, A border showing which selected layer you are on...

Anyone have comments to this feature, please post ^^

Edit: Noticed I forgot to mention what the buttons do...

Heres another edit to the Layers Option!
Button 1: It's a "+" sign...Add a new Layer!

Button 2: It's pointing up for a reason!! Move the selected layer Up!

Button 3: It's pointing down for a reason!! Move the layer down!
Button 4: The "X" button, delete the layer...

Button 5: The Merge Layer button...It combines the selected layer and the layer below the selected layer together...

And also! If you hadn't noticed, there's a "Check" Options next to the layers! One layer is checked, and the other isn't...If the layer is not checked, it's because the option is telling the layer to hide, once it is checked, it can show it self again...just to make it easier...

The PNG file format (which is what DMIs use, just with added comments for states) doesn't support layers.

It is advised you use a third-party graphic-editing program to create your icons if you want more than the built-in editor offers. That way you could save in .psd or .xcf or whatever you need to save the layers.

PNG doesn't support animation either. Why couldn't comments be used for layers? It probably isn't practical but it is most likely doable.

Why couldn't you just use an external editor instead of having them waste their time reinventing the wheel by adding unnecessary features to the icon editor? BYOND Art Society has a bunch of links for image editing tools.

Then BYOND will have not only re-implemented the APNG format in regular PNG, but GIMP/PSD layering too. I'm thinking maybe they would spend time better elsewhere.

It's ultimately up to them, but I think the plan for DreamMaker is to keep it as a good base IDE.
