BYOND needs to step up support for the new Windows with new taskbar support.
I'd like to see 'tasks' that open Dream Maker and Dream Daemon, so I can access everything from whichever BYOND app is pinned to my taskbar. The BYOND.exe could have additional tasks for setting visibility as well.
Windows also allows you to customize the 'recent items' lists. DreamMaker.exe may show recent projects, Daemon showing recently hosted worlds, and Seeker showing recently joined worlds. I'd imagine the pager one would either be the same as Seeker, or a combination the three. The taskbar has built-in support for pinning these items, so we Win7 users may not even need to use the pager's Bookmark menu anymore.

Not everyone has Windows 7. I have it on my other HD but hardly use it. most people cannot afford windows 7. If Byond made things for Windows 7 Specifically what happens to all other versions of windows ;) Thing is, as time goes on, more and more people will have it, that's pretty much a rule. Win7 is relatively new, so a lot of people (in retrospect) do not have it. Within a year, many more will have it. |

I use Linux, therefore, will probably never use Windows 7. :)

Lummox Jr would have to die 4 times over before we even get out of 98 Support. |

Jeez, Leur! Lummox JR isn't THAT old. He'd have to be born at the age of 75 each time knowing he was to die in a year or something.

Your posts puzzle me.
Leur wrote: Not everyone has Windows 7. A true fact, but not one which is significant here. The same applies to Windows XP and every other OS, by the way. [more irrelevant stuff] Um... absolutely nothing? ;) When BYOND runs in an OS that doesn't support a certain feature, then it will simply work without that feature, surprisingly enough - like it goes currently with features that are, for example, available in Windows XP but not in 98. An extreme example is Linux not supporting BYOND's GUI, therefore it was given a text-only version, and at the moment it doesn't even have any version for running games at all. BYOND Supports Win98 still, can you imagine how long it would take just for them to add Win7 specific features? The first part of that sentence has nothing to do with the second part. |
I don't actually think any of the developers have Windows 7. It was hard enough to get one of them using Vista.

My wife has a Windows 7 machine now so testing there is now a possibility, although debugging would probably be a royal pain in the butt. Depending on Black Friday deals I may pick up a new computer myself soon, though I expect to transition over to it only slowly. Lummox JR |
Windows also allows you to customize the 'recent items' lists. DreamMaker.exe may show recent projects I'm not clear on whether you are suggesting this, or stating that it already does it, but you would like some other functionality. In the case of the former, I have dreammaker.exe pinned to my start menu, and there's a little arrow next to it that pops up a list of recent files accessed by it. I'm using windows 7 ultimate 32-bit |
