I never did until a moment ago when I accidentally pressed such a key

It's a rich text control. Press Ctrl + Mousewheel up/down.

Woo. I never knew of these, any others? Or are they not Byond Specific, and I can simply google them?

They're IE rich text shortcuts. I assume you can just google them. A lot of them work in IE too.
