If you have a contract with 'managed hosting', then any competent company should be able to take care of this for you. That is, if the attacks are massively launched from one IP at a time (e.g. monitor the amount of TCP connections from IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port yyyyy and automatically start dropping them for 2 hours if the figure reaches more than 2). That would easily take care of attacks by multiple people as well.

Profile the world, see whats getting called a lot. The problem seems to be a massive hole in the security of the open access systems in the game, like world Topic and Import - most likely neither of which even need to be used.
This sounds like its just some cheap attack from a noob with 10 seconds of DM knowledge, and probably a copy of your rip source to see where all the fails are.

The difference being getting graphics pre-RSC extractor was still piss easy and sounds much the same way.

You figure ripping thousands of screen shots to get a few chopped together icons was just as easy as clicking a button? Or are you talking about ripping them through DM? Which wasn't nearly as popular/known about, and was still quite a bit more difficult than just pressing a button.

Ripping was still easy, people just made it easier via the RSC extractor.
I'm closing this thread, since it is bordering on a flamewar.

We generally don't get involved in in-game disputes (because it would be a full-time job+some, given our community). However, in a case like this, where someone is taking advantage of an exploit in the software, we do like to be kept in the loop.

In this case, ExGenesis cooperated and showed us what he was doing, and in return we have lifted the ban on his key. We will work on a patch for the problem so that this and similar exploits will not work in the future. It is in our best interest and yours to close these security holes and/or give you the ability to monitor and deal with these sorts of problems without our intervention.
