Perhaps we should have some kind of "Deactivate Account" button, which would disable their members page, any posts / threads / blog posts linking to their thread should have their key grayed out, and other measures like that...

I can find no logical reason as to why such a feature would be needed. Sure, previously active accounts may receive comments from time to time. But if you had the intent of deleting your account, in which you found out that you cannot and you simply stopped using it, why should it bother you? |

Last I remember BYOND only allows a certain amount of keys on an email, so if I decide to make a new key, I'd want to delete my old one, seeing as I hate having to make a new email address every time I need a new account, so I can change old keys to that address.

If I recall, the keys per email limit is four or five. You must understand, allowing the deletion of keys will only cause problems. Identity "fraud" would be a problem, especially when a deleted key had a well developed history. Imagine, Bob23 trolls a bunch of blogs and games, then immediately deletes his key. After that, a non-detrimental visitor decides to join this community as Bob23 and quickly realizes that he has been banned from numerous blogs, games, and perhaps the dev forums. If you have the desire to create a key, but already exceeded the four to five key limit, spend five minutes to create yet another email account. But I must ask: how many keys do you really need, five, ten, twenty-five? After a while, it gets rather ridiculous seeing people in this community creating numerous email addresses because they reached the key limit. |
