If I host a game and it's not featured where is it listed?

If its owner has created a HUB it's listed there. HUBS can have one of three statuses: Listed, Featured, or Rejected. However no listing is even needed for BYOND games. As long as a player has BYOND installed you can give them the link directly to your game and they can connect.

So there is no way of seeing an aggregate list of games that have not been submitted for revision but are currently being hosted.

Earlier BYOND might have had a list of both listed and unlisted games. I'm not sure.

It did. However it seems that it is no longer available. I request the "unpublished section" be re included. There should be a mechanic for who developer wants to host and test certain systems of their projects without going thru submission.
A way to seen all the currently hosted games published or not would be nice. |

If a game is not published, it doesn't deserve to be. That would probably mean one of two things:
1) It isn't finished 2) It contains either programming or pixel art from another game, therefore deeming it a "rip." If you fan the game, you can still find it in your pager, even if it isn't published. |

If a game isn't finished the developer will eventually need testers. If his game isn't listed anywhere he would have a hard time getting any significant amount of players to help him find bugs. The unpublished section provided almost instant feed back to developers who wanted long and short term testing. (also free advertising)
Also some people don't actually care if a game is a "rip". Needless to say "rips" are quite annoying. But all byond games are given hubs no matter what the status the admin label it. So I don't see a problem in making it easier to find and sort thru those entries. A simple view all currently hosted games would be nice. The unpublished section was up for several years and did not do any harm to byond as a whole. I would love to see it re-incarnated some how. |

There is a list of these games. You can find it in the submissions or "slush pile"
As a listings moderator, I completely disagree with you. If BYOND wanted you to find the games that its Volunteers have deemed unworthy of listings, they just wouldn't require games to be reviewed at all. Then, we'd be back to where we were over a year ago. We'd have a million Narutard and DBZ games littering the hub, making BYOND look like a fail anime-kiddie driven engine. |

I'm fully aware of the "slush pile". However is is almost impossible to find games that are currently live.
I think the revision of games is a good thing and this encourages people to create high quality games. But the fact still stands that there are still are thousands of rips and narutotards on byond. Believe it or not, but these users are actually in the majority of byond users. I'm not asking to feature these games in anyway. Just a more practical way of viewing them. As it stand all games that are live report to their respective hubs. I just feel it would a benefit to have a function that create a list of all these games "perfect" or not. It not asking for a complete change just a different way of organizing information that is already readily available. |
