There are safety measures in place in the general byond.rsc file located in your cache against the RSC Extractor, though I do believe it still functions on the individual resource cache file bundled with a .dmb. In order to prevent people from cracking that, you should be selective with who you hand out your host files to.

Honestly though, if you don't want someone to be able to take your resources, then just don't ever publish your game. Seriously, I'm not being a jerk or anything but there isn't any foolproof method to stop people from stealing your artwork or music if they're really inclined to do so. Once your game is out they can just take screenshots in-game to take your artwork and music is dumped straight into your cache folder when heard.

I personally think this needs to be addressed, because it makes it very hard to sell an OST. Also, it is wasteful of hard drive space, and quite a clunky system.
Artwork can be stolen with a handy thing called 'print screen'.
rsc extractors still work

sadness.
They'll always work. Even on triple A titles, resources are much less protected due to the fact they have to be loaded and such- caching them is just easier.

If I remember correctly having an icon state with a really long name included in your rsc would break most rsc extractors. (I don't really remember exact details, was back when I just started out I was equally scared of people stealing icons)
The resource extractors that I've seen only work on downloaded games now.

Well yes, the host RSC isn't encrypted. Which is just as well, as it allows us third party developers to make tools for BYOND.
