I recently signed up for Yahoo Launchcast plus and Y! unlimited because I'm interested in finding new music to listen to right now. So far, I really like it.
I'm mainly interested in some jazz/fusion artists, and some techno/electronica artists. I found a genre on here called Progressive Techno and I'm really digging it. I'm listening to Judge Jules right and it sounds cool.
I want to head a different direction with my guitar playing, but I want to keep it mostly dark. I'm thinking about experimenting with some fusion/techno/metal mix and see what comes out.
Anyway, just recommend me some stuff from any genre and I'll check it out.

Phish has some rather jazzy songs.
Death From Above 1979 is really electronic-esque. It's a drummer and a bassist with a bunch of effects and such. I like Muse a lot, although they're not "electronica", they have their own weird genre of sorts. I don't know if you're a ska man, but Streetlight Manifesto is really jazzy. The Postal Service is an awesome electronica band. You're also welcome to check out my entire playlist. | |

Look up Shawn Lane. He's an instrumental artist that does some insane stuff. Look him up on YouTube, I think you'll be impressed!

That's right, I've heard of Shawn Lane. He _did_ some insane stuff. I believe he passed away, didn't he? He gets crap loads of praise on the John Petrucci message board, which makes sense because I hear he was technical monster. I'll check him out because he's right up my ally of what I usually listen to.

Hi. I think you should check out Sigur Ros. I heard a song of theirs today, there's nothing particularly technical about it, but it's soothing. (Well, the song I heard anyway.)
The song was called "Saeglopur." I put it on my myspace, if you want to look there! It's more in the "ambient" genre. I am going to go check out some more songs. :) I hope it's okay I posted on here. | |
