Don't worry, there aren't any spoilers here for those of you who haven't played the game.
I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE this game. It's by far the best Star Wars game ever made, and the story is way better than any of the movies in the prequel trilogy. It also has some of the best voice acting I've seen in a videogame and some excellent original Star Wars music.
Whether you are male/female or Dark Side/Light Side really changes how events play out. A beggar asks you for money on the street... do you give them credits, ignore them, or kill them for troubling you?
I'm not the biggest fan of the skill system, but it works. It seems that hardcore-lightsaber wielding Jedi soldiers are way better than Jedi who focus on force powers (unless they are dark side alligned).
The story is great! It also has a major twist about 2/3 of the way through that I didn't see coming at all, which is always a good thing.
After beating the game I went out and bought the sequel, and I've been a bit underwhelmed by it. It improves upon a lot of little techinical things and makes the game easier to play... but the story and level design are no where near as cool as the first game. That said, it's definitely worth playing (I'm about 1/3 of the way through).
So yeah. If you've been putting off playing this game, go try it out! It's out for both Xbox and PC (and I think that the first one is also available on Mac).

Great game, played it when it came out beat it, played KOTOR 2 beat it, loved it. :D
|
I wish I could finish this game but my game abruptly stopped working about 2 hours into it. Reinstalling didn't work, nor did updating the game. Sucks.
|
Yeah, KOTOR has got to be one of my favorite games ever. I liked the second about as much as the first. They were both great.
|
I haven't played KOTOR2, but from what I've heard it was a considerable disappointment compared to the first, based on what a few people I know say. They had to cut out a whole bleeding planet because of time constraints.
As if Lucasarts didn't make enough money on the first one that they couldn't have given Bioware a little past-due time to polish it up... KOTOR was grand. I stopped playing at Manaan (which my friends tell me is the least entertaining level, and that I should keep going), but my old Xbox went the way of the dinosaurs so I had to start over. I lost a bit of interest, though I've been meaning to pick it up again some time. |
The sequel wasn't done by Bioware, but by Obsidion.
My impression is that Bioware wanted to work on their own stuff after doing KOTOR... |
I enjoyed playing both of the KotOR games, however I never beat any of them. I always wanted to go back and restart on a new character for some reason. None the less, they're still great games.

I have both. The first is much better than the second by far. *spoiler* At the end of the second, it gets a bit... hard. Especially when fighting that lady. Before that you have to go through Malachor 5 with Bao-dur's droid and there are some strong monsters there compared to that little droid. :\ Gotta run everywhere lol. Never-the-less, I beat them both.

The sequel was apparently much more ambitious originally, but they cut out a whole bunch of stuff when they ran out of time. There is a bunch of unused content on the disk that people have uncovered.
