Macs are not professional computers. They're made so that idiots can use them.

Lol, that's a silly logic imo.

Silence, #9! Never break Chain of Command!

But nah, I was just providing some reasoning as to why BYOND doesn't provide a client to Mac users, but a lot of games have been supporting Mac users more and more. I support Mac users having access to a BYOND client.

I think the work behind supporting a whole new platform might be to much hassle. Idk, I know modern games have been offering mac-compatibility but I think that's just cause early on there wasn't that many Mac users.

I am pretty certain Mac creators stated that it was never intended for gaming. I agree that supporting a whole new platform is probably more hassle than it's currently worth vs feature additions and bug fixes. Which is why I didn't come out and say they should when I made my original reply regarding the Mac platform and a BYOND client. Oddly specific there, aren't I?
The Mac client subject has been done to death. It's right up there with full 3D and an iOS client: It's just not gonna happen.

That said, the architecture that will allow Flash or HTML 5 to play would allow a thin client to be built for the Mac very easily. A full client with all of DS's features is out of the question though.
I would love to see a thin client, or something that BYONDexe will be able to output for mac clients that is basically just a html 5 browser window, essentially, just without having to be tied to a safari tab + domain name.
So, byond shutting down now...lol.

Uh, no. Did you care to read the thread before you came up to that assumption?

Quite the opposite. We've consistently raised money for 45 days now. The developers have also been more responsive in fixing issues and adding small things here and there. We're slowly proving that this can work long-term.

Yes, donate monies pls.
400th post!!!

But anyway. it'd still be nice to see macs able to enjoy BYOND just as much as us others.

^I know right...

What? He left his computer on this page for 4 days and then posted assuming it would still be a non-discussed thread? How???

It's simple really, Developous perfected his time machine.
Alright Tom, where is your video?
So are we just going to be doing this $5,000 thing every month or what?
That's the goal. While I don't expect the massive donations to continue every month (although that would certainly be nice), I am hoping that a higher percentage of users contribute small amounts (largely for Memberships) so that we can meet or pass this amount monthly. This is enough to at least keep Lummox JR employed full time and able to work on stuff besides the (failed) Business of BYOND. You'll see this for 500, for which we finally have some new features planned.
I always assumed everyone chipping into BYOND behind the scenes does so as a hobby and on their spare time.
I'm seeing a lot of random people that I don't know giving money, so that's a good sign.
