Hey, does BYOND use 2xSAI or some filter like that for displaying maps? Because everything is all blurry.

If I go to Options & Messages > Client > Preferences > Use graphics hardware to display maps, and I uncheck that, the blurriness goes away, but then the entire game runs SUPER SLOW for me as if I have intense lag.

I need to know this because I want to make a feature request to give us players the ability to control which filters BYOND is using to display the map. Because I don't want to use any filters. I want it to be pixel perfect like BYOND was a long time ago. Right now the blurriness will cause one of my character's eyes to be bigger than the other and all kinds of undesirable stuff.

Blurriness is a side effect of how your graphics card is set up, probably. (Other users have reported blurriness, not sure how they dealt with it)

I'd suggest updating your graphics drivers.
Thanks. I still think it would be a good idea to give users more graphics options.
Well, BYOND was originally developed to cater to the lower-end cards of the day. An update like that would likely require switching the graphics API all together, which would require a total software rewrite. Though a software upgrade to something more modern would not only give it a severe boost in rendering performance, but also give Linux and Mac users the ability to play BYOND games natively. (Assuming they don't go with DirectX, but let's face it, DirectX sucks hard, even on Windows platforms.)
It sounds like you're stretching the art in your game when resizing the map, instead of altering the player's view range depending on the size they have set.
Or you could just cheat, use a view of 32 and just set the map stretching to false. That would be much easier than calculating the map dimensions and adjusting the view.
Happens to me too.
