Hello,

This is Jemai here. First for all, I'd like to thank FIREking for giving me 6 months membership here in BYOND and like the title says, it is about to expire in 5 days.

I kinda feel I have not done much. I was not able to make a game in that timeframe and I have been away for the past few months. The main reason for that is that I have landed on a job that consumes most of my time. That said, my passion for game development is still within me.

It is a privilege to be part of the BYOND community and meeting you all. Whether you've been good or bad to me, I thank you for being part of my life. I hope that in some way, I've been part of yours too.

I can't promise but once life permits, I'll do my best to find time and get back here. I miss you all.

Regards,
Jemai
They post hoping someone will take pitty on them and buy them membership, I think these posts should be removed tbh they are useless..

I think the only reason they aren't is because half the time, the people making these post get gifted a membership. The other half of the time, it's usually people that never post on the forums, and thus no one knows.

Thus, BYOND makes some money off of post like these.

Makes BYOND look a bit desperate ... and unprofessional..

Well, not to throw any more dirt on BYOND's name, but at the moment, that would be how it seems to stand.

What do you want. I bet Tom's struggling because he barely gets money.

I don't want anything? Never said I did...
If anyone deserves a membership, its Jemai1. He's really smart and knows a lot about programming. He helped me write the fastest auto join snippet as well as helping me simplify my smooth movement code.
Just learn how to make good games derpskies. It's not like Tom
hire people to make these post.(Which sounds dumb as hell.)

What? Who said Tom hired anyone to post anything? And where does making 'good games' come into this?

Looking desperate because post like these, which essentially are just asking for people to buy you a membership, are allowed. Not because he's paying or even asking people to make post like these. Then my response was due to the recent postings made by Tom himself, explaining BYOND's status.

Still no clue where the game bit comes in here. Don't really know where the hiring people to post for memberships bit came in at either.

.

Anyone over the age of thirteen can join this site. Meaning it's kinda pointless to assume if someones professional or not. That comment was directed at BYOND not its people. Meaning you're saying BYOND is unprofessional, and desperate, when Tom has nothing to do with posts like this.

Making good games would increase BYOND's population increasing the likely hood of money being spent on it. I hope you understand now how my first post is on topic to what you guys are talking about.

Posts like these follow the guidelines, and is no different from posting it on someones post about giving away free memberships to be honest.

That's kind of the point of ATHK's post, saying post like these shouldn't be allowed. I don't personally like Teka's post asking people to post with suggestions on who to buy memberships for, and feel that post would be in the same boat as this if it were not allowed. Making a post saying 'I will be buying a membership for one of my fans every month' is a lot more understandable, because there's an actual requirement there and a limitation. Where as asking for a membership is desperate to some means.

And the professionalism was directed more at BYOND staff, that make the guidelines and allow post like these to manifest, rather than the community of people asking for memberships.

Glad we understand each other now. If there is anything left that you do not understand about any of my post, feel free to ask on my pager so not to clutter the topic further.

It as in a post similar to this but gets straight to the point.

I don't think it's professional for the BYOND staff to intervene on opinions of what's professional or not. They're doing fine. Tom has nothing to do with this and moderators shouldn't have to waste their time deleting just about any post found. It should be rare that moderators have to delete a post.

If a post comes up breaking the guidelines, it gets deleted.

If asking for memberships like this was in the guidelines, it would be rarer for these post to come about. In no way or form is that deciding professionalism of any post or poster.

Hmm.....

I'm sure you just said one thing and stood against it.
Keep calm. His membership is expiring. Maybe he's asking for an extension or he's just letting you know. He said he's been away for some months, and some months ago, Membership was the only access to blogging so it made it somewhat important. Also not forgetting the HUB issue. This post can simply be inferred in many ways.
Last I checked, you weren't handing in a cheque for a bajillion dollars to Tom so don't go grumbling about how the site's turning out. Not saying you should hand in a cheque for that amount but your comments were a bit uncalled for. Mine probably is too. Ah well.

As in the allowing for post like these, which are pretty much just asking for memberships, doesn't make BYOND seem very professional. I'm sorry if what I have stated wasn't clear, but I never intended anything I said to mean anything about determining the intent of the poster being professional or not, but in the staff(By staff, I mean paid staff(Tom and Lummox).).

See that's your opinion. And it's just a opinion, it's perfect as it is now though what I'm saying is an opinion too. There's too many bias people who say whatever just to say it on this site. And should remain that the staff leave things how they are. Listening to the wrong people I think enough damage has been done to BYOND as it is.
