One of the questions that I keep on getting is related to weapon attack speed. Just like Proelium, there are variable attack speeds in this game.

In this older screenshot, the player has clicked on the Short Sword in their inventory, bringing up its stats window.

There are three separate attack speeds: Slow, Normal, and Fast. As you can see, the attack speed for this particular weapon is Fast. Attack speed is based solely upon the weapon; character stats have no impact on attack speed for weapons.

Like Diablo or WoW, the name of the weapon indicates the type of stat bonuses it gives when equipped (although it is important to note that the names will not be anything like "Short Sword of Thought" in the final release). This short sword is suited for characters focused primarily on magic instead of combat, and is a fairly low level item.

The color of the item also indicates its rarity (I've already discussed this in a previous entry). Blue (Enchanted) items such as this one are the lowest level of rarity, and drop fairly often.
Interesting, couple questions.

1. Is it possible to give a rough guesstimate at the number of attacks each speed do in a period of time?

2. I looked back through all the previous entries and was unable to find any discussion on the rarity ranks of items. What I did see was Normal (Black), Blue (Enchanted) and Gold? (Legendary). Anymore ranks besides these?

Rarity was discussed in AA's forum, and it goes like this :

Normal (Black) < Enchanted (Blue) < Rare (Green) < Legendary (Gold)
I'm gonna reiterate Zeifer's first question... it'd be useful to know somewhere the exact speeds for Slow, Medium, and Fast.

As a side question, how much of the game is going to be available when it's released? Will we have all of these 20+ floors, or will there be an initial limit?
The attack speed differences are as simple as using either a spawn(2), 3 or 4. By comparison, in Proelium most weapons are set to a spawn(2). It doesn't look like much of a difference, but it really matters when it comes to Damage Per Second.

The initial release of the game won't have the full 20+ levels of the dungeon. I'm hoping to have at least 6-10 levels of the dungeon available by July, with the rest being added in August.

10 levels will still make this the biggest BYOND game to date, and most of the players will spend their time battling it out with the guild system.
When will this game going to be released?
June
What guilds do you mean, anyway?

The traditional RPG's Fighters, Mages, Thieves Guilds, or something completely different?
Sounds good. I'm definatly going to give the game a shot. Just recently started playing Proelium again, can't get used to the new classes, lol. I plan on being a frequent player on AA.
Looks good there Silk.

And yes, I'm still alive. :-).

And yes, I'm still working on the art as of now.
The rarity colors are going to confuse me. :(

"Pfft, just a green... maybe I can trade this to someone for a decent blue..."
WHOA! I never saw such a thing made with BYOND. That is some nice masterpiece you got there. Good luck on it! I'm looking forward to play it.
