It doesn't really look... right. Any advice?
Hello there,

Welcome to the path of become a Pixel Artist :D

I see you are a newbie, so I'd recommend some tutorials so that you know what pixel art is and what are it's restrictions.

Here are few good tutorials: 1.Tutorial by Cure

2.RPG Maker Tutorial

Now, let's come to the point i.e. Grass tile.

I've made a quick tutorial, which is probably not the best but okay, I guess.

It does have some tiling issue but please excuse it because I made it in a hurry. Moreover it's emphasizes on teaching you how to make grass tile.

Grass tiles can be made in any way you want because Trees and Grass tiles are basically your choice, how you want them to look. They can vary from realistic to stylized etc.

Best of Luck!

Thank you for the tutorial(s), Aastikya! Here is an update on my grass:

I've never really drawn scenery or other objects like grass, so I'm pretty new to this. I am a lot happier with how this one looks.
You may want to try making you dark shade darker.

The water currently isn't animated, I am not really sure how to go about doing that yet. Does this look fine so far, though?

I also tried to make a base.

I tried to edit the previous one as I felt it was too thin.
You need to increase the contrast between you colors, it looks like the man is basically all one color, also maybe make his head slightly less curved and give it a chin as he looks like an alien.

So there's an update. Redrew it entirely. How does it look?
It looks... Okay, it's the usual starter base. All of the colors are too saturated, and bright. Maybe they need a little more red in there. Unless you're going for something pale, but then you'd still need to bring down the saturation.
