Albro
Skyiden
Kai(Southend_boi)
Uh, this isn't to form any hype of any sorts, its simply to demonstration of some of the art work.
This is no way a representation of the final product, we currently very early on in production.

"we started up production recently" lol That is an acceptable opinion, but then again we have a good balance, of two programmers and two pixel artists. And recently means something different to me than it does to you. Regardless, thank you for your input, although I would prefer your input on the art as opposed to my production practices. |
^ Only way to get experience is to gain it, which I presume will occur along the way, not to mention a lot of what you see on screen is conceptual and is no way meant to be coherent or consistent.
This was virtually a small art showcase, so please treat it as such. |
I've done plenty of small projects and RPGs I haven't released over the years; as well as some I have but aren't around anymore. The fact that I've never done a large RPG project doesn't mean I'm not qualified for it. I merely need to be dedicated. As long as he can hold up his end with the art, I can do the programming. Like he said though, I'm currently away for a couple months without computer access. I like the art he shows me though; and we collaborate well together too.
I do agree that it's way too early to make any announcements whatsoever. That usually really is like saying "Hey guys! Here's a game we'll never finish!" More than usually. |
There is a lot to be said about this preview. But I want to impart on you just one little piece of wisdom, or advice. When making tiles, especially turfs think of them not as a one size fits all but more of a team that has one turfs for each situation.
And with that terrible explenation (which sounds awesome in my native language, dutch) I mean to convey the idea that 1 grasstile gets repeative no matyter how well you make it. I often like to use atleast two alternating main tiles with a lot of random tiles thrown in the mix. So yeah, thats my 2 cents. |

I planned on adding foliage and what not, and obviously edges to distinct between two tiles and what not. As for the two different tiles for grass, it sounds interesting, but it might be hard to make them blend in if anything. |

Actually, it is quite simple. Just look at TMDI's tutorial on seemless tiles. It uses the same principle.
A few (2009) years ago I dabbled with a somewhat experimental take on that and here's what I ended up with. I actually made an entire set out of it eventually- just check the old post: http://www.byond.com/members/ PandorasSecret?command=view_post&post=258494&first_unread=1 |
