I totally agree with that statement.
|
Yeah but then you tried to own us and make us your colonies, so we had to put the smack down on you
|
Pfft, England is horrible, not only is every major company owned by an american one, not only has our language, our measurement systems, our number systems, OUR DATING SYSTEM is pretty much being converted to the american one, we get constant pro-US propaganda on our US owned news channels (except channel 4, but only when talking about Iraq).
This country is a disgrace, and being part of our republic, Wales and Scotland aren't doing much better. I wont even bother to go into Northern Ireland, either. Yeah, I know, I'm a bad person. :P |
Ace, the whole measurement system and whatnot is not true, at least from what I have seen. Granted, more people are learning both American and the rest of the world's systems, but only so the can understand everything. I still haven't got the hang of the metric system. But in the US most schools are starting to teach the metric system along side the American system.
Really, there needs to be a large push to out the American mesuring system in American schools. It should be taught only as an outdated system that will be seen from time to time. Why? Because there are standards for a reason, and America(Well, USA actually, not all of America) arn't following them. |
Yeah, the US is trying to convert to metric, but can't because the ol' timers vote to keep it.

Other countries need to stop letting American business conglomerates take advantage of them. Sure, we can create high-paying jobs for them (in their oppinion), but we can do it without ruining others' cultures and economies, and I blame the countries that let it happen. Wal-mart is going to own countries one day. |

Iraq War. but we can do it without ruining others' cultures and economies, and I blame the countries that let it happen. You shouldn't blame other countries. There's a reason America has the highest standing military budget during peace time. America is a viral plague and the world needs to be immunised before it spreads anymore. |
So you are saying that because America has a large military, other countrys should bow down before American companys?
I don't know how it works in your country, but in mine, companys and the government are seperate(Well, mostly) and the military would never be used to force a country to use American companys. Once again Corporations do NOT own the government, even though they do have more power than they should. We have the largest standing Military because we are expected to police the world. You may not agree, but if something happens that requires military force, the USA is expected to put forth the most troops. If we don't, we are not doing our job as the most powerful nation in the world, or at least that is what all the countrys that don't like us will say. |
HAVE NONE OF YOU GUYS PLAYED METAL GEAR SOLID
the truth is there the military are controlled by the corporations 1984 wool pulled over your eyes etc |
The American Measurement system isn't even -taught- anymore. I only know it because it's what's used outside of school. As far as school goes, we only use metric.
|
Metal Gear Solid? Isn't that a... PLAYSTATION game?
Anywho, I am going to guess that you where joking because if you weren’t, you would have to be one of the stupidest people in the world. |
When I went to school the amercian measurement system was still being taught, and that was like.. only 2 or 3 years ago.
Sinyc needs to get off the drugs. Because someday, England is going to need us to save them from their terrible teeth and we won't be willing to help. |
Yeah, the US is trying to convert to metric, but can't because the ol' timers vote to keep it. No, Kunark, the commies are trying to convert the US to metric! The metric system is exactly the kind of ugly, arbitrary, dehumanizing scheme one might expect from people who think they're just the cleverest folks ever to come down the pike. If the metric system were a building it would be one of those featureless concrete Soviet apartment blocks. |
You know Gug, you're absolutely right. The decimal system is so dry and boring! Where is the poetry in our measurements? And for that matter, where is the poetry in our CURRENCY? Dollars and cents are just so tedious and machine-like. We should all adopt the pre-decimalisation coinage system, it's much more flavoured.
Seriously, what? |
