Hmm.

Do you think DELL's a rip off's?

I KNOW so, for a fact. :o

So, like. I've had my dell for about..eh, four years. Yeah, four years is about exactly how long I've had it.

It's got several viruses, one being where we had to purchase tech support from DELL. It costs around $200. Yeah. It's for 2 years, I beleive, of garuntee though.

BUT. Before that, which was about almost a year ago, I called them up. An arabic person was my technician, which is nothing new as they are technicians for every freaking computer company in the world. <_< . Anyway though. I tell the guy, very nicely, how much trouble I had been having with all these people for the past 5 days talking on the phone for over 10 hours each day, after 5-10 minutes EASILY, telling him what happend, he says to me "Okay, you have nice day, bye-bye now," and the prick hung up on me. I was furious, called, spent 45 minutes or more waiting for someone to answer/getting past those STUPID automated machines, got a supervisor, gave him that pricks name, and what not. He was fire. =/

SO. Usually we buy the computer with almost half on the first payment, and the rest on the next. Not this computer though. Oh no. Not this one. Dell is so greedy, money hungry....and heres why:

They charge over 50% intrest on each payment. We give them about $100 a month, they only put $46 of it for the down payment. After the viruses and what not, which I think dell gives to the computer itself so we have to call--it had it so i couldn't even get on the desktop :o--but yeah. Now I own more now, than I did when I first purchased it. I'm going to try my dang hardest to give them all the money this next payment, which they haven't accpet yet. <_<

So, yeah. Not to mention when I first purchased it, I orded an additional $300 for 512 MB, and 3 years at home service. They never came to our house for the at home sevrice, and stupid me, I just recently noticed on the computer that I only have 254(yes, not 256, but 254)MB. Those friggin' pricks...

Anyone else have troubles with Dell? If not, you're a lucky one.

Also...

Anyone wanna' suggest a good brand, that isnt so well known that ou have?

Actually, the next one I get, I'm just going to get custom made. Dang'd these computer companies!

=/
I like how you say I post too much stuff then post 6 topics in a period of a few hours.
xD

i know. I was thinking of that too. I hate the rain though, it makes me bored. =/
I love the rain

Well, it never rains here, that's why

It's like.... refreshing....
Move to Ohio. You will get tons of it. =/

The only time it's nice is...I guess the night. It's semi relaxing. That and if it's like uber hot outside, and you're outside playing baseball or something. then it's nice. =D
The company I work for(dispite my dislike) buys exclusivly dell machines. We have had generally good luck with them. They are over priced, but I have never had a problem with tech support, and have had next day delivery on all replaced items(We eat though printers, but they are under warrenty). I deal with a lot of tech support, and Dell is some of the best, in my experience. And no, they are not putting the viruses on there, because that would be a major class action lawsuit.
http://www.ibuypower.com

That site is what makes the world right. Bought my desktop there. It works perfectly still, have had for about a year now. Really fast and no issues at all.
I build my own, and would build the companys if they didn't demand overpriced tech support.
The Dell i have motherboard is made by intel so you know its good stuff.I just hate that you have to buy there ram powersupply etc
Dell is actully a pretty good company. Their hardware is pretty good.

The biggest problem here is a few things and I blame them all on you, and it all comes down to your lack of knowledge of computers and buying outside of your spending range.

It isn't Dell's fault that you can't afford to buy a PC at one time, nor it is their fault you decided to buy with a payment plan. They have to make money some way don't they?

Most of the average computer problems can be solved without Dell's support, so it is your own fault for being computer illerate and having to pay $200 every 2 years for Dell support.

Computers do not come with virsues built into the hardware, don't be so stupid.

It is mostly your fault, except for the tech support. If you are going to own a computer at least know how they work and how to fix them.
I had a problem about 1 week ago, I had to order ink from dell because you can't buy it from the stores, so I called and I had a hard time doing that because I couldn't understand the guy because of his accent. >:\
Yeah sadly dell out-sources its tech support to india
I agree with shades.

You're computer does have 256mb ram. Believe me. 2mb of it will probably be shared with your video...

Why not get your own virus off? Can't do it? Reinstall. Get your data off your computer... whoops, you dunno how silly little person XD (sorry, couldn't help :P)... and reinstall windows. it'll even run faster! :o

Sorry if it sounds like I'm harrassing you, but learn a little bit more, and you'll see how, except for the tech support, it was your fault.
Personnaly, I think Dell sucks. I've always heard about people having problems with Dell, and Dell hardware (like the ink shadow was talking about) isn't as easy to find...I think.

I personally prefer HP. It a better brand in my opinion and I've never had problems with it. My current comp has 512 MB ram, 100GB hard drive and 3GHrz celeron proccessor. Like I said, pretty decent. Kinda off topic though, ah who cares.
HP? EeGads man, HP is crap! They have the cheapest motherboards, I have serviced 2, and my brother has serviced 3 HPs for dead motherboards.

I have found that Dell seems to put good hardware in their computers, at least compaired to most of the competetors.
to hell with dell

From what I've seen, Dells have really freaking good deals. I mean, when you count the fact that they're giving you an OS on top of it, it's almost hard to say "Build your own" over "Get a Dell". They have nice boxes for $299 WITH XP pro. If I didn't, erm, come across XP Pro for free, it would've been a better deal to buy that than build the one I did, and this isn't even a top-of-the-line box.

First, for shades. If you read my little 'story' more carefully, you could see that I actually can afford dells. However. The state I live in(Ohio), or town, or just the billing center we have will not let you give them all the cash for the plan. I guess we signed up for some crap month to month thing and they wont let me get off? I'm not sure. Either way, the intrest is bullcrap. If you have the money, why wont they let me pay it all off at once? <_<

And Jimmeh, I actually know a "bit" more about computers than you may think. I know how to reinstall everything, saving your files, and removing viruses. However. This virus was different from all the other ones I have had. I would turn on the computer, and it would load up the windows xp crap, then it would go to a blue screen where the only thing you could do is turn it off. I tried F8, F10, F12, and all that fun crap, yet, nothing I knew would fix it. I suggest to you to, see how I said I explained all the crap to the tech support for 5 days straight? Yeah. They didn't even know what was going on. I was sent from software to hardware and back and foruth tons of times, getting disconnected 48% of the time.

We got it fixed though. We had to go through hella ammount of steps, input of codes, then finally reinstall it, which after all that took a long time(from about 10AM-11PM). =/
Airjoe, when you spend $300 on a computer, you are getting $300 worth of computer. It will run like shit, and you would probably be better off with an older and slower machine running win98.

Cody, that sounds like hardware problems, not a virus. Or it could have just been currupt data on the harddrive. Once again, dell did not give you a virus.
Not true, Scoobert. Look on the commercials. 256MB of RAM, 60 Gid HDDs, and 3GHz processors. I have less HDD space, and less processor power (only by like 0.07GHz, though), and double the RAM. Had TigerDirect not had a rebate on the RAM, I would've had 256 RAM too. For $300, that is -not- a bad computer. Not to mention, Dell cases kick ass. I'd be willing to bet I couldn't spend $40 on a case and get one like Dell's.
