So here's the video showing the gameplay and graphics of NVS. Today I made the blocking system, healthbars, mugshots, damage system and camera behavior as well as adding Sakura and Sai as playable characters.

Tomorrow I'm planning on working on chakra and special moves for at least two of the characters. Perhaps I may also get a change to work on nametags for the players appearing above the health bars. I'll also probably allow RGB color choosing for the bar borders. Currently the healthbar border can change color but it's set to blue for the moment.

It's coming along nicely so far and it's turning out to be a pretty fun project. I'm especially liking how the mugshots are looking. Anyways, let me know what you guys think of the work so far. =)
Nice
Did you make it using BYOND?
It looks really amazing, I would like to make a platform game, but I have not much knowledge at the usage of the different codes while creating jump proc, and the differences between normal projectiles on a 2D Game and projectiles at a platform game, anyway, I wish you good luck ^^
Yes this was made in byond using the help of the Sidescroller library. You should check it out it's fairly good. As for the wish of good luck, thanks! We'll do out best to bring you guys a fun game. Perhaps this can be a proof that you can make a 2d fighter with Byond. =)
Naruto Shippuden: Shinobi Rumble sprites?
Indeed they are. We'd make the sprites ourselves but we're crap at drawing. We take no credit for the sprites =P
To anyone who's still reading this stuff: would you prefer it if characters appear above the bars or behind the bars when doing things like jumping? I ask because it does block the view of your character or an enemy character for that matter, but it would seem very fake if it had you appearing above the bars.

What do you think? Above or Below/Behind?
Way to rip the faceicons from a PS2 Narto game. Other than that, nice. It's better than the crappy un-ballanced games like Moo Moo and NS.

Edit: It should be bellow, so we can see if we get hit. There is no need to see your character above your hud.
I doubt it would be an easy task, but being able to see the person under a bar that goes part-way transparent when they go under it would be awesome.
Looks a lot cleaner and more fluid than other Naruto fighters on BYOND. I wouldn't be too bothered about a small part of my character being hidden behind a bar for a short space of time, if it bothers you though I'd go with what Albro said.

Also the HUD looks a bit chunky, there is nothing wrong with it but it could look better.
I also think maybe you should make the whole second bar disappear when it is not being used, just a preference thing though.
Is there not a space at the bottom of the screen where the hud could be positioned, that way it would never be in the way. If not then it should always be above the characters.
stfu yut, none reads your suggestions/comments nub

For example? I don't think I've seen a good 2d Fighter Game on BYOND, especially that utilises pixel movement and/or the sidescroller library.

it doesnt make use of a preferable pixel movement, but byonds naive pixel movement is still relatively new

theres also been projects in development, such as the mini ninjas game by kidpaddlesomething

also the sidescroller library isnt essential, i think its meant for people that dont know how to do it themselves or are too lazy to do it
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! For those who want to know where you can find the hub, click Here :).
It's really amazing, I think fluidity just needs to be added.

Like the really small things, smoke being added when dashing, or when you get hit, that little stun effect and your character does a little vibrate like action (pixel_wise.)

Keep it up bro.
Thanks Zack! All of that will be added. Right now we are focusing on the core, then the little effects/contents after :) You won't regret it ^^. The description "fast-paced combo based combat" is there for a reason!
