I'm going to have to do another PathWrath test soon. I had planned on doing more than one before making this post, but the game still took too long. I kept the movement rate the same as it used to be before padding. We kept leaping over the few spaces tolls and invasions would work in. Making laps quickly helped point increases through fort levels. However, moving more slowly might help point increases more through tolls and invasions. I hope so anyway. Otherwise my padding is merely a play option instead of a design fix.

Flick suggested just using smaller maps and buffering the edges, but I think people would be upset at having to play on a postage stamp. I want a short game map to be the default and only subscribers can change map options... I might end up trying to rewrite the engine to handle 2x2 and 3x3 spaces. That could suck.

Anywho, this is Flick destroying me in a 2000 point game. He had a nice distribution of forts. I had the cards to take them out, but I always seemed to jump right over them. I almost won. I was almost to the castle with forts of level 3, 6 and 8. Unfortunately for me, Flick just happened to draw a nice offensive card in time to take out my level 8 fort. I passed the castle without enough points. This picture is of Flick right as he is about to take over my level 6 fort. I could not decrease his points enough before he reached the castle.

I dont get that game, and it makes me feal stupid :(
Telling me what you don't understand might help. =)

Have you ever played Monopoly? It's sort of like that except that you can argue over tolls with card battles. (The cards with the highest initiative go first and ties go to the invader.) Also, resources are just tools instead of being the winning condition. Points are made/lost for earning/paying tolls or owning/losing land.

Sure, there are different card abilities you may want to learn. However, you should be able to get the hang of them in a game or two.

Avoid the trigger explanations in the help files if you find them too confusing. I put that "eyes go swirly" warning on there for a reason. That section is just for people who really want to find out why a certain battle outcome occured.
