. . I've been thinking, instead of hosting separate rounds, why not just make Death Note World one big wipe like any other roleplay, im sure no one has ever experienced that type of gameplay and how it would be. I mean I have an Idea on how it would be played for a wipe.
-Roles would be chosen through all IC altercations, except Shinigami's.(Shinigami's are always chosen by Admins )
-Shinigami's wouldn't have a reason to be on earth, or choose a Kira until they see a fit corruption in the government or the town itself.
-The Police Chief would also be admin chosen, but wouldn't really need as much officers until crime has started.
-An L wouldn't be needed until more and more crime has started, and L's are usually solo-gained(Meaning you can RP as a detective, anyone can but the best will get L's Role)
-The Mafia can be started by anyone who gathers a group of members, and claims leadership . .Simple, But please don't be noobish and go all "Im gonna go start a Mafia.
-As for N/Wammy/ and all that other good stuff, those would be chosen by L.
If during a wipe, Kira was to die, then the world would be in peace, until the next Kira was chosen, this doesn't mean the wipe has ended.
The wipe only ends when all Shinigami's hve died, or there is a corrupting in the sav.files.
Sound Interesting?

I never understood the point of globally erasing all saves... why not just implement a permanent death system?
If someone is killed, and the admins deem the killer's roleplay just, then they are wiped. This way all characters can have a full life, instead of having to abide by a global wipe. The world's events can progress realistically too, since the story would never really end... years pass, and history is made. I think it would be rather cool reading an IC history book and seeing the exploits of past villains and heroes that were roleplayed by actual players. |
I agree "WANO"( Writing a New One ).
Seem's legit, I think I'll look into that, but sometimes people get bored of wipes and want to start over i guess. . |

Also, why not just make a roleplay game about corruption in government, with all-powerful, yet non-conflicting god-like creatures who watch over, only increasing their influence in critical times.
Then it wouldn't be a fangame. |

Because im pretty sure no one would know who I was talking about -_- . . Then why did you put Wano and not write his name and save 5 clicks? |
This would be an excellent idea in a perfect world... Unfortunately we do not live in such a place and this concept is stopped in its tracks by one glaring factor. Players cannot always be on to play! If Kira has to log out for a few days at a time, RP basically screeches to a grinding halt. The game cannot be like real life, because the players have a life outside of the game that they must deal with as well. This is the advantage to a 1 or 2 hour Round Based game. Players can come and go as they please, and if a main role must leave, you can simply reset the Round and no the everyone remains content with the constant flow or RP. There are much less dead periods.
Take a look at Charmed for example. A fair RP Game,(If you actually decide to RP on there) but with it being wipe based and not round based, you have these long dead periods with one or two interesting spots hidden somewhere inside. |
