Happened while trying to install the Developer Preview on a Virtual Machine. I assumed this is a new Blue Screen Error. :P
'bout time they improved that message. The other one made it so difficult to determine if the computer needed restarting...
Yeah, they were more cryptic and in some versions, even hard to catch (due to BSOD sometimes happening very fast).
Hell, they even tell you what to Google.
HAL initialization failed... lol, reminds me of 2001 odysse... maybe we should hope windows 8 won't kill us

That can't be serious xD

That would be funny though, but I'd prefer that to the Super old looking bluescreen.
It is serious. That's a screenshot taken straight out of Windows 8.

+1
Windows 8 sucks, I want my Windows 7 back.

That's what happens when you install a pre-beta OS over your existing and stable OS.

Bandock used VMWare, I'm going to use another HD partition. Only a madman would install over his primary OS. =/

I am a madman.
Just to let ya know, Windows 8 Developer Preview Install functions well under VirtualBox. However, it is non-functional on VMware (though it is still useful for creating virtual machines). VMware results in the Blue Screen of Sadness upon install startup while VirtualBox does not.

Edit: Apparently, it's an issue with older versions of VMware Workstation and current VMware player. For now, either use the latest version of Workstation or use Virtualbox (might work on Virtual PC, but have not tested it).
It works fine on a partition as well.

We'll have to have a chat about it Bandock, I didn't like much of what I saw.

Yeah, I agree. We should discuss about it as there are definitely major differences.
One thing I did notice was the sheer size of it.

I put Windows 8 ISO on a 4GB DVD, which it installed with. I didn't download any software other than Firefox and any available Windows Updates for it.

Windows 7 tells me the drive I installed Windows 8 on has 25GB of used space.

What the hell?
WAI JEW SO SAD 2DAYS, BLOO SCREEN!?
Very interesting. Must take more when trying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 since it took about 13-15GB when I simply installed it on a virtual machine through a clean install.

Haven't done any Windows Updates through it yet.

Mine was a clean install on a new partition however. And there's no way I could have downloaded that much, I'd have run out of money on the prepaid modem long beforehand.

Certainly odd however. Unless some of the apps are just gigantic.
