Would you two rent a room? We're having an important negotiation here.
@Atriosv3: If you didn't already see what I said about that being a joke and sarcastic as a reply to Akto's attempt at explaining "run by people" when I meant people that are popular and well known names on BYOND.

Not only that. But its not worth it, this will just keep going on and on. Point blank that was low and mean. Calling us soulless people?

*Whooosh!*

@Lige: Thanks! (:
If they posted their content to BYOND Journalism, people would expect their articles to be decent. If their articles were bad, they (DM Blog) would look bad. If they are a separate entity that makes "different types of stuff", there's no standard you can hold them too. They can't fail, they're automatically awesome (in their own minds only, but it's better than nothing).

I understand why the DM Blog people are doing what they're doing and it's not really their fault. The problem is with BYOND memberships - anyone who pays $18 gets to bombard the site with their garbage and feel important because their garbage is being shown on the site. Imagine if BYOND just encouraged donations and a small part of the income was split among the people producing the content (kind of like what tsfreaks tried, but as an easily accessible website and with better content). I'm sure Teka and others would still donate but BYOND would use the money to promote quality content instead of accepting the money as compensation for the crappy content. In the short term they probably make more money this way (the way things currently are) but it makes for an awful community that can't help but perpetuate its awfulness.

Edit:
I can never find the BYONDcast audio that people are talking about. With stuff being split between youtube and livestream I don't know where to look. Could you guys write up a page with, for each episode/video/webcast a link to the audio and a summary of the topics (with timestamps)? It'd make it much easy to keep up with things.
Lige wrote:
Click their link. Scroll down to Video Library to view their videos.

I found that... eventually. I guess the problem is that I don't listen to all of these things as they happen. So when I see people discussing the content of one of their videos and want to listen to it, it's hard to figure out what video they're talking about.
What exactly was said that got everyone so heated? o.o
I forget what it was exactly, but it was just a joke that flew right over peoples heads.

And I don't want you guys to compete with Journalism's community, I want you to just do what I did and joined the Contributor team rather than go out of your way and spend $18 just to get a site that's exactly the same as someone else's and have less of a fan base.

If you had any good content or articles to publish, publishing them on BYOND Journalism would be the smart thing to do as you would get more feedback and you could even get a following of your own.

And the soulless people was a joke, if you didn't get that while listening.

Of course you have the right to your own opinion, does that mean you say any hot garbage you want, like a child just because we're a similar guild OR just because you can?

If we're giving opinions, I think DM Cast are just too jealous that people have the audacity to start their own thing and not join Journalism or your DMCast. You guys are also hypocrites. You could have easily added all your content and livecasts to the Journalism guild and further "expanded an already growing community", they also have a much bigger community but you chose to make your own key.

Before suggesting things for us to do, why don't you think about what you guys have done. One post, you were all getting nays, so you decided to make yourselves look good by saying "if you're a true BYONDling, nay! - pfft"

Your posts and livecasts and youtube videos are successful though, I for one, have enjoyed them alot, don't get me wrong. But why disrupt what we're planning on doing? Bleh. If you want to make this into a rivalry fine.

But making petty comments about other guilds, even as a joke, is just downright low.
livestreams, podcasts, and gaming events != Journalism.
Really I don't see what all the fuss is about. Whether it's on BYONDCast, DM Blog or Journalism, I'm going to read it regardless and so will the majority of people who regularly read the posts on the front page. Quit the unnecessary whining - this is a non-issue.

Not only that, constantly hounding them telling them what to do is only going to encourage them to do the exact opposite.
I agree with the ET. No matter where the content is, I'd read it. But if Journalism needs help this badly, perhaps everyone can pick up the slack and interview each other and submit it to Journalism. I don't think Interviews on Byond should be Journalism's turf. They have also used up $18 on that account so hitting them over the head and trying to waste their money is a bit inconsiderate of us. (Stop their blog and submit to Journalism)

When they first created their DMBlog account, they probably like us, knew Journalism was dead and so they made their own in which they'd have full rights to do what they wanted to do without limits. I like DM Blog, if Journalism had more interviews and wrote about more, I'd read it, and I also like DMcast which deals with audio. But really guys, constructive criticisms and helpful suggestions is the way you should go, not argue with them to throw their money away.

The problem isn't that they're choosing to be separate from BYOND Journalism, the problem is why they're doing it.

Someone could come along and say "I'm going to make content that's way better than the stuff on BYOND Journalism, so I don't want to be part of them, I want to be my own blog." That'd be fine, assuming there's a reason to believe that they can make good on their promise to deliver quality content.

It sounds like the DM Blog doesn't want to be part of BYOND Journalism because they don't want to be bothered with requests like "format your articles decently" or "ask interesting questions". They want to be able to do crappy stuff but feel important about it (because they've got a blog of their own to show for it).

This doesn't mean that they should be stopped from doing what they want to do (there's no way we could do that anyway). What this does mean is that all the ridicule they get is deserved - if you don't want to be part of the group, don't seek the approval of the group you're deliberately not part of.

Forum, how can you just jump to conclusions like that? Our goal was never "Hey, DMCast/Journalism seem popular, lets try and trump it!" We made DMBlog because we were bored and wanted to provide the community with something new and unique. Who the hell are you to tell us our content is crappy? If people are appreciating it, why not let it go? Are you gonna repeat the same thing on our future content? If you don't like it just don't read.

BYOND Journalism is a member made key remember that, it's not like Tom made it and to make a similar type of blog, we have to sign some form that requires us to be a part of Journalism and we decided to neglect it.

Hell, even EG fanned us, it's not like he's telling us to join Journalism, if he is fine with it, why can't ya'll be too? After all it is a tendency for BYOND know-it-alls to suck up to the higher ups.

All we're saying is to get this out of your head; our goal was never to be more popular than Journalism or DMCast, we don't want approval from these groups, because we never wanted to be a part of them. If being important means getting spammed by people like you everywhere saying the same thing, after us repeatedly stating that it's just for fun and we aren't rivals of Journalism or DMCast, then we'd rather not be important at all.

Thank you and ET, atleast your comments will stop the unneeded, excessive comments on the existence of DMBlog. :)
BYOND Journalism is dead. It isn't their job to help revive something they probably aren't even interested in. It's EG's job to revive his Journalism blog. I don't blame these guys for stepping out and doing what they wanted to do. Nobody harassed me when I said "I'm making a guild."

As I said, you're famous and noone would say shit to you. They're acting like it's our responsibility to revive Journalism as if we were part of it and detached and formed our own stuff.

September 1st bro. People really forget that I said "Content returns september!". Which means tomorrow evening I am going to have an article up and information on a possible up coming interview.

I took the month after the "we're back" post to gather up topics and interview ideas (along with reword the questions and add more, etc. It actually makes me a tad bit said that the DMBlog's questions were similar to my new ones, but we'll see what I can do). However I think I may have made the error saying "Monday" for content, as I thought Sept 1st was Monday, not Wednesday.

Looking forward to it ;)
@DM Blog and fans: You guys are going no where with what you're doing. Take some time and learn how to interview and post some good content. Take criticism for what it is and stop deleting comments just because you don't like them. Grow a pair and learn to do things right.

@DM Cast: I enjoyed hearing the cast. Keep up the good work and keep inviting more people to participate. I think it makes it more interesting and different.

@Journalsm: Welcome back, hopefully you will interview a wider selection of people this time. :P

To be honest, my first few interview selections are a bit biased. There are some people I've just really wanted to interview since my 1st year here and I try to cover them first and then move on to "recent people". But I made sure to add "recent people" into this new slushpile.
